New here, but veteran Bandster in need of some ideas.

Recommended Posts

I was up late at night suffering from some really bad reflux after a recent fill and was searching for other causes of my night time choking on stomach goo. I found this site and found my answers.

I've been banded since June 2010 and have dropped 65 lbs. I'm kinda stuck at my current weight and am getting frustrated. I can't handle more fills, so I need an alternative. I work out like a mad man, and have completed many 10k runs and a half marathon....so I stay active... Ideas?

Welcome!

Night reflux is a major red flag of a band too tight. You really need to contact your surgeon as soon as possible and let him decide if you need a little unfill.

You must be close to your goal weight, yes? Those last 20-30 pounds always seem to come off painfully slow. You already work out like crazy so the only other thing I can think of is your calories. Do you track your calories? If not, that would be simplest way to assure you're not accidentally eating too many (or too little) calories.

Best wishes.

I guess we all get stuck but you have to just keep doing what you're doing. Your body is trying it's damndest to hold on to the last of your fat. Perserverence is worth it.

Severe nightime reflux was my only sign of a slipped band. Sufferred with it for about 4 mths before having it diagnosed. Have u had a recent xray?

My own Band "symbiant" is touchy when at nearly maximum tolerable fill.

What I eat late and how close to bed time will affect that sensation. Although never a matter amounting to Reflux syndrome, I did and do have issues during the day if at that level.

In my own antique 4cc band, 1.5cc is usually about right, while 1.7 is definitely TOO much so.

Watching that close edge is an acquired art form IMHO.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
