Sorry you are having problems. The first thing you need to do is ask yourself why you got the band. If you made the WLS decision to better your health, then you need to get on board and gobackto all of the paperwork your doctor/nutritionist gave you and start there. You shouldn't even have an entire burrito on your plate. You need to focus on getting your mind set and learning the way you should be eating with the band. It is a lot to learn and a lot of head hunger to get over. It is not easy, but you have to set yourself boundaries. That doesn't mean that you can't enjoy food, you just have to follow the plan.

Try to set your plate with 2-3 ounces of Protein, 1/4 to 1/2 cup of veggies and a small good carb. Eat all this slowly. Wait 20 minutes after you finish to see if you need more. Not if you feel full, do you feel satisfied. Your body will survive on this little of food, it is your brain that tells you not to.

Find other things to do when you think you are hungry. Walk, read, and drink tons of water!

I don't mean to be harsh, but you have to do certain things to help yourself get through this. Remember that it takes 21 days of changing something to get over it. Start with something and see how it works. I gave up soda, sweet tea and dessert before I even had surgery and it made life a lot easier. Then just has to focus on finding dense Protein that I enjoyed.

Log your food on MyFitnrssPal.com and set boundaries. If you don't, and you keep getting fills you will be throwing up everything and not enjoying anything.

I hope this helps.

depending on what size band you have you really wont fill any restictions until you have gottten to your 5th or 6th fill, hang in there. try using either lose it or fitness pal ap Until you really start calories you have no clue what your putting in you mouth.

Hang in there good luck

Not everyone needs fills either. I had one fill at 6 weeks and have gone another year with no more fills. It is a reallybig head game too. Listen to your body.

I am 5 months out and could probably eat a burrito, but as I am pretty much on a diet right now, I count my calories, my Protein and only put 4oz of protein on my plate with some veggies and maybe a small carb. Regardless if I am still hungry or not when I am finished, I am finished. I wait an hour, dring lots of Water and snack on fruit or veggies if I am still hungry. Your first 6 weeks are for healing and getting into some good habits. My first fill didn't come for 6 weeks and it was 1cc, 1cc, 1cc,1cc.........5 months, 5cc's. It is a journey not a sprint.

Thanks for the suggestions.... we all know How it is to over enduldge and then beat yourself up over the guilt of it. That is what I think part of my problem is. I was doing so good and then went and ate too much food.< /p>

My first 4 months, I could eat a large Quiznos sandwich and a bowl of their broccoli cheese Soup - no problem. And I did, quite often. Didn't weigh or measure anything, just ate just like prior to my surgery. Lost maybe 2 lbs (luck, I guess). Until my 3rd fill (4 mths post op) thats when the magic started. Even 3 1/2 yrs later, I can eat maybe 1/4 of a Chipotle burrito bowl (it's even better the next day, btw). I get sick of eating my leftovers days later!

You WILL get there, I promise. You just have to be patient. Like others have said, you have to do the work before the band actually kicks in (the mistake I made). I waited for the band to do all the work, which it eventually did most of the work, but I still had to make wiser decisions.

Good luck!

Marci

Does anyone know what happens if you stretch your pouch? If I eat my small portions from here on out, I should be ok right?

As long as your stomach didn't prolapse it's pretty elastic, 1 incident shouldn't be a huge deal but watch for signs the band isn't working and be sure to tell your surgeon anything you notice.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
