I need some :help: and hope someone can lend me some advice.

Please let me know if you have tried any appetite suppresents and if they work :)

I went to my dr in Jan to start my WL journey. She put me on some diet pills that made me GAIN weight - I think Water weight since I felt majorly bloated after 2 weeks on these.

I went back to her after deciding to get banded. She sent me to start doing pre-op testing to make sure there were no medical reasons why I gained weight. During the tests, she thought I had Type II diabetes, which was just borderline and she said would probably fix itself if I lost weight and exercised.

She is all for me being banded BUT I am learning patience early young gwasshoper! I set my surgery up for April 21, 2006. Got all my ducks in a row, (or so I thought) and had to move my surgery back to May 5, 2006 due to a financing glitch I found out a few weeks ago about.

I got some test results back and my PCP sent me to a urologist last week, he made me put my surgery on hold :think because tests from 2 & 3 years ago showed I have a mass on my right kidney.

He's not sure what it is, could be a vessel crossing that was moved due to enlargement or tumor etc, he said he wasn't second guessing anyone until he did more testing.

He set it up where on April 21st I am having a specialized CT done, then MRI next week.

I go back to him on May 2nd for all the test results and to see where we go from here.

I rescheduled my surgery for the 3rd time now, to May 26th, and have a feeling I am going to be one of those who cannot go forward with banding for awhile.

I started a lifestyle change plan on March 31st and started exercising 4-5 times weekly on April 2nd along with high Protein, low carb eating.

My problem is I STARVE!!!! lol I can eat something, usually not alot though and then be hungry in an hour.

I do mean starve, not head hungry - having a major headache, the shakes, nausea and almost passing out starving.

I want to take some appetite suppressents but have no clue where to start or what is effective since I haven't dieted or exercised in 3 or 4 years.

TY all, I will ask my pcp when I go back and see if she can prescribe something else until I am banded :plane:

Anyone know where I can buy Forelli brand clothing, also how true to size does this brand run? the tag says Made in Turkey RN 73960

I'm asking, because I have a pair of cargo shorts that I haven't been able to fit in for 3+ years until this morning and they are a size 20 :clap2:

I know I am losing without being banded yet - I havent weighed in almost 2 weeks (had a few slip ups the past week lol) and this is my NSV for the day, ok and the fact I will look human again instead of "cousin it" after visiting my hair dresser today.:)

If you are having those reactions to the amount you are eating, you probably need to eat more. People at a higher weight can eat more and still lose, and then adjust their calorie intake later as they start to plateau. Especially if you are doing that much exersize (congratulations for that!).

I don't know anything about good diet pills. I never found any that worked...

First of all, Congratulations for running on the tread mill. That's more than I can do....AWESOME!!!

About appetite suppressants......I have taken Meridia & Inonamin in the past and both have worked for a short period of time. I'm talking 2-3 mos. I asked my PCP for some a year ago and he won't prescribe ANY type of suppressants b/c of the possible side effects. At the time, I found it odd though that he supported WLS and not WL drugs. Now, I'm so thankful b/c the road has led me to the band.

~Good Luck~

I have used the excuse of being on bed rest for 7 months with my son 6 years ago! for being inactive, so this is an accomplishment.

I started a lifestyle change plan on March 31st and started exercising 4-5 times weekly on April 2nd along with high Protein, low carb eating.

4/18 ~~ I finally worked up to where I can run YES RUN on my treadmill 2 min at 2.5 and 2.7mp; throughout my 25-30 min workout, I did 5 times of running!

4/19~~ I walked/ran on the treadmill for 27min

4/20 ~~ I walked/ran on the treadmill for 30 min - 2 min running @ 3.0, walk 5 - 7 min @ 2.5/2.7, 1.33 min running and crashed and burned :hurt from the shin splints in my left leg, walked 3-5 min then ran again 2 min walked the rest of the time.

4/21 ~~ had a major allergic reaction to Barium sulfate last night so I have been sick all night so no exercising today and no CT SCAN ugh

4/22 ~~ woke up feeling totally better from the allergic reaction. Going shopping/walking at the mall with family. Do I get an extra point for buying all things for kids new rooms 1/2 at Disney store? :) walked 1 -2 hours then walked more grocery store

4/23 ~~ was supposed to go to the Zoo but 40% chance of rain. We went to JCPenney's madhouse friends and family day LOL my daughter works there and I got an extra 20% off we must have walked the store 4 or 5 times - then went to Sam's club /flex weight trained while pushing 2 kids that weigh 100lbs total and 4 bags of 50lb pool salt! lol

I did find this stuff called Aspercreme for my legs and running, hope it will help the shin splints.

I was going to get Ben-Gay but my DH decided to joke with me about it in the middle of sam's club so I was too embarrassed to buy it rotfl :)

4/24 ~~I walked/ran on the treadmill for 24 min - 2 min running @ 3.1, walk 5 - 7 min @ 2.5/2.7, 1 min running, walked 3-5 min then ran again 2 min walked the rest of the time. Shin splints in my left leg still bothering me.

4/25 ~~ :)

4/26 ~~ :)

4/27 ~~ I walked/ran on the treadmill for 27 min - walk 12 min @ 2.7; 2 min running @ 3.3, walked 3-5 min then ran again 2 min walked the rest of the time. Loading up with Water before and wrapping my left leg helped some.

4/28 ~~ Had to do bookkeeping - no exercise

4/29 ~~ Walked 2 hours at the zoo, trailing behind a 3 & 5 year old running LOL

4/30 ~~

I didn't realize just how much of a difference losing only 29 pounds could make, until I saw pictures side by side. Now the tough part - the other 100 pounds

:)

I have only had 1 or 2 pictures taken in then past 3 years, one is below labeled Jan 2006.

I'm starting to get a shape back, rather than just being a blob!:success1: I have been trying on clothes that I haven't worn in 3+ years.

The pants in the Jan 2006 picture are a 24W and shirt 22/24W.

The shirt in the May 15, 2006 picture is a size 20/22 and was just way too big, I guess I shoud have pinned it at the back for pictures hehehe. I didn't have anything else nice to wear with my pants - St. John's Bay size 20! :wow2:

I can finally see a difference in my neck OMGOSH I have a neck again and getting rid of tom turkey~

Picture 1) 289 ~ Jan 2006.......Picture 2) 274.5 ~ March 2006.......3) 260 ~ April 2006.......Picture 4) 260 ~ May 2006

hehehe Yoda my husband asked me the same thing the other day.

Now if I can just get my band and get rid of my stomach :)

:think unless I have a hysterectomy I will always look 6 mths pregnant with Adenomyosis, Endometriosis, Uterine Fibroids.

I'm hoping losing weight and getting banded will help with these things and get my hormones back in check.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
