Small fills

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery July 2012 and so far I have lost 25 pounds my doctor has been giving me several small fills mainly .25 cc at a time. I think he could be more aggressive with my fills but he keeps telling he dont want to get me to tight. I feel im doing most of the work on my own with only 3.5cc on my band out of a 10cc band I'm always fighting hunger. I excersice 5 times a week and I just wish I could lose weight a little faster most people can't even tell I lost any weight.... Im tired of being fat and hungry. Has anyone out there experience slow weight lost and finally lost the weight?? How long can this take??

I know people who like to go "Slow and easy" and I also know people who got frustrated and even sought out a new Dr......(small private group I belong to)

There is nothing wrong with 2nd opinions...actually expected in some cases...

I'm not suggesting anything, I've heard both sides.....

BTW, one person I know was paying out of pocket per visit/fill and felt her Dr. was just dragging it out for the $...one visit per month....

You either trust the surgeon you are with or you don't. If you don't find a new one, if you do, I recommend following his plan. That's what you paid him for!

Hey..it's your body...your health and your life...YOU have to do what you feel is right for you....

My Dr., not that anyone should compare...gave me 3 fills in 3 month increments since surgery, and I have not had a fill since.....he was aggressive and said up front he would be as aggressive as long as I wanted to be.....

Just out of curiosity, what was your Dr's version of aggressive? How many cc's per fill?

I'm debating whether or not to get another. I have had 2 fills bringing me to 5.75 cc's in 12 cc band. 1.5 cup of Protein rich food keeps me full for about a couple hours but I find myself snacking between meals. I've lost 20 lbs in about 9 weeks but 10 of those lbs were lost in the first week after surgery when I could not eat, so it has been slow.

I still feel like I'm in bandster hell and feel like another small fill will be close to perfect cos this is hard!

I haven't had any pb or stuck episodes but if I don't chew VERY well (almost liquid) I feel a slight resistance with food going down. Nothing scary but I really don't want to get stuck or have difficulty with eating.

I have tiny fill by tiny fill as its all I can tolerate. My fill nurse would like to up ml by ml but I can't take it and feel ill instantly so we now take it slow and I have .5 every 6 months ish. I understand what he is saying and I understand how you feel, try asking for slightly more when you go and say you just want to try a .5. I got silly last year and had 6.5 restriction (not all at once but over time) and one day something happened and day by day I got pains everytime i ate but the weight was falling off so I sucked ice and carried on, I was on holiday and had to search out a clinic to give me an urgent defill, they took me right back to 3.5 and that's what I'm at now. I'm less than I was straight from surgery. My next fill is in two weeks, I'm scared but feel like I want a good fill as some weight has crept back since last year but my head is saying go tiny. I hope you get what you would like. :o)

ask the dr why is he putting so lil and may i ask if paid cask for surgery or insurance

I did pay for surgery cash because my insurance kept denying to pay for it for one reason or another so I just got tired and came up with the money and paid cash. Now they are going to pay for my fills after I meet my 1,000 deductable but the other problems is that I live 4 hrs away from my doctors which means I drive 4 hrs there and back in one day and is getting tiring and expensive

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
