My opinion is no, but that's just my opinion. I've lost 187 pounds with the Lap Band and I didn't have to have 3/4 of my stomach hacked out to do it. I think the Lap Band is awesome.

But, I'm sure someone who's done well with the Sleeve would say it's better.

It all comes down to personal opinion. There is no right or wrong answer.

either option is a good one granted the person uses the tool as instructed.

I had a problem with altering my body. I like the idea that the lap-band is reversible and doesn't cause permanent damage or restructuring! If it wasn't for the band I probably wouldnt have chose weight loss surgery as an option. I would probably be over 300 pounds by now!!!! This is just my thoughts! Everyone has to do their own soul searching and educate theirselves on ALL the options. With good information you will find what fits you and your lifestyle! I will not say that my band has been problem free, however, neither were my children or husband! LOL.. In all cases, I would do it again in a heartbeat! Good luck in finding the answers to your questions and starting your journey no matter what you choose!

I have a friend who had the sleeve just a couple of weeks after I had my lap band surgery. She is happy with her decision and so am I. She has lost a lot more weight quicker than I have but, my surgeon told me that over a two year period the weight loss was, on average the same for both. People who get the sleeve lose a lot of weigh very quickly up front and those with lap band lose steadily over a period of time.

I think it comes down to your preference. I was not keen on having my anatomy permanently changed. I like the fact that lap band can be reversed if need be. I am steadily losing weight and I happy with the results. Talk to your surgeon and find out the pros and cons of both. Good Luck!

I agree with the above posts. I think WLS is a very personal decision and there is no right or wrong choice. You need to do what is best for you. I was also torn between the sleeve and the band. Honestly I got caught up in the fact that sleevers lost weight faster and in forgot about why I wanted the band to begin with. I couldn't stand the thought of having my stomach cut off forever. That was too scary.

One of my co-workers daughter has the sleeve. She's done very well. She can also eat foods I can't such as hamburgers. She says nothing gets stuck, she just gets full quick. In a way I think that would be nice but then again over 4 years I've grown used to not eating hamburgers and really don't miss them. I'd be afraid that if I didn't fear certain foods getting stuck i would go overboard with them. If I didn't have that problem I wouldn't need a band. We all know just getting full and stopping wasnt what we did before anyway. Although it would be nice not to have to go somewhere and worry will there be anything I can eat or for people to have to plan where we eat around me.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
