Question - Beware Fairly Personal

Recommended Posts

I seen a YouTube video awhile back where a LapBand patient (woman) who was in her maintenance stage complained of having issues with port pain anytime she tried to be intimate with her husband.

I was just curious if this has effected anyone else? If so, how you dealt with it.

I seen a YouTube video awhile back where a LapBand patient (woman) who was in her maintenance stage complained of having issues with port pain anytime she tried to be intimate with her husband.

You mean while they were having sex? First off, I'm not female, nor am I in maintenance stage, but I will admit that sometimes during orgasm I do have a bit of pain from tensing my abdominal walls where my port is sewn. As for later on, I would assume it would have a lot to do with the rigor of the coupling as well as the position(s) being used.

Please forgive the direct language in my post,

Thanks for being so frank Terry...that's just what we need!

I too wonder about how intimacy will be impated but I have reason to believe the pros will still GREATLY outweight the cons and if that means a little port tenderness I'll take it. There are so many things I was able to do when I wasn't obese that I am missing so much and there are some intimacy things on that list as well!

Good luck every body!

I've heard of women that have some port discomfort if their husband lays or pushes directly on it.

I think where your port is located, what position you're having sex in, and how aggressive the sex is can all make a difference.

I'm not in maintenance yet but I have lost 185 pounds and my port does stick out a little bit, but I've never had any pain or discomfort around my port during sex.

My husband can not lay on my port side. Its not painful but uncomfortable but in the throws of passion who cares until its over lmao. But seriously it is uncomfortable.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
