I am also still super bloated in my abdomen! Today I felt worse, actually, in my lower belly (intestines) so I took gas X and stayed on Soup all day. Had mild nausea, too, but after a short nap felt better. My baby girl was up a couple times last night and I am just trashed exhausted. My husband is still sleeping a lot from his bout with a virus this week and I've definitely been doing more than I should! Today he gave me a break and I feel better having rested more than be on my feet. I felt hungry for dinner so I roasted a very small chicken thigh and pureed it with 1/2 cup mashed potatoes. Ahhh, totally filling and low calories. I'm still low in the calories area so I'm currently drinking Special K's Protein Water (pink lemonade). Shockingly good ;) Only 5g protein and 5g Fiber, but I'll take it!

Hi all, checking in :-)

I think my belly has finally deflated. I am down about 7 pounds from banding day (2/1) and as long as I eat something every 2 hours, I am not starving. However, it is definately difficult to train your mind not to eat more because I definately could. Someone posted on the boards a great snack idea if you need something sweet and I could literally jump through the computer and kiss the person. So, I am a major chocolate fan. I don't really enjoy the SF puddings/jell-o because they all have that artificial sweetner taste that I can't stand. This dessert is heavenly: mix cool whip (lite, FF, whichever you prefer) with cocoa powder (real baking unsweetened powder..not Nesquick). It tastes like chocolate mousse!!!! I have 2 tablespoons in the evening as my treat and it is about 40 calories!

I am going to the store tonight to get some ingredients for tuna and chicken salad. I also saw a recipe for pasta-less lasagna which is mixing low fat ricotta cheese, Tomato sauce and parmesan. Good source of Protein and gets you away from the Mexican flavors of chili, tacos, Beans, etc.

How are you all doing??

I'm exactly 1 week post-op and feeling pretty good today. My belly is soft. I still have some shoulder discomfort. I have no desire to eat or drink, but I can now drink my fluids without dreading it. I'm still on Clear Liquids for the next week.

How are rest of you doing?

I'm 10 days out today, and I'm doing pretty well. sleeping MUCH better at night which is sooo nice. My port discomfort is getting less and less everyday. I'm still feeling full quite fast when I eat, but I'm finding it easier to get Water in. Still not getting in all my Protein though. This morning I made a cup of Decaf coffee, chilled it, then added a scoop of chocolate unjury...blended it up in my ninja with some ice and it was like coffee heaven!! (I'm a total coffee NUT and this was my first cup in weeks!!)

Next week Tuesday is my appointment with my nutritionist, so I'll FINALLY be able to move to mushies...hoping that'll help me get more Protein.< /p>

As usual I have healed pretty fast. All my energy and longevity is back, with my appetite and ability to eat. I'm on solids, I didn't mean to be, but I'm tracking and staying to 2 -3 meals a day and keeping my portions small. I'm also deflated - DH called me "skinny" lol (not true!).

Since I'm so far from my doc, she suggested I come in 4 weeks post op for wound check and fill, instead of 10 day visit plus 6 week fill. I can't get a babysitter before I go back to work in March so I'll plan to get my first fill on or around March 8 (I am working 4 days a week so Fridays are free).

My port site's not very tender, my steri-strips are almost all off, and I was able to sleep on my side. I'm also happy to report that without morphine or percocet I had no constipation/impaction issues YAYAYAY and I'm completely normal/regular. I'm taking my Vitamins and Calcium and getting ready for my fill in 3 weeks.

I'm not super hungry, I get full on less than I did before surgery, and I'm doing everything I can to stay in this zone. Can't wait to start feeling restriction.

Hi Ladies!

Glad everyone is feeling better and better! Dr called today and wanted to do my follow up this AM instead of Wed. Incisions all good and down 14lbs since surgery (2/1 - no pre op diet). Best of all got the Green Light for Stage 3 -soft foods. Tried 2 scrambled eggs for dinner and definitely felt a point of "don't eat anymore" about 3/4 of the way through. Dr scheduled a fill for 2 weeks from now - does any of this progression sound like others? I was prepared for full liquids longer, but am happy.

Holy cow Kate. It hasn't been very long since your surgery. That is great that you are eating solids already. I don't think I'm brave enough to move that fast, but who knows. When I get there I may be ready.

I was wondering if any of you have tried egg nog as a full liquid. I always make a large batch of egg nog at Christmas time for our family, and we love it. (yep, I use raw eggs and we are still alive!). We live on a dairy farm and have raw milk too, so I can get a good creamy milk to go with the egg nog. Of course that would be fattening, so perhaps that isn't a good choice. But I thought I'd suggest it so you can have some variety. Can't be much worse than a cream Soup. If any of you want a recipe, ask me.

Cindy

OHHHHHH my gosh... I just got notified that my 25th high school reunion is going to be on July 24th. Needless to say I AM going to be at my Goal weight by then. completely doable if I buckle down.

I have to admit it is rather odd, I have not lost a single pound in 5 days. which seems virtually impossible since i'm only eating about 800 or less calories a day. - the good news I have finally figured out that this band will never make us feel FULL... but we can learn the difference between "satisfied" and "full"

SO I am on a mission now - I have 5 months to lose 65 LBS.

I haven't either!! Same weight for 6 days! I know we are healing and all that but I don't eat more than 900 calories a day so I don't understand how that's possible.

I actually gained 2 pounds immediately post-op, held on to that weight for 5 days and then dropped 5 pounds in a day. The weight will come off!

I've been stuck at my weight for a few days too. I keep bouncing between 251 and 252...I'm trying not to get frustrated. Hopefully one of these days I'll wake up out of the 250's all together :)

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
