I think my band slipped

Recommended Posts

You need to see your doctor. I know it is not cheap. I am self-pay myself and have to pay 75 dollars everytime I see my doctor. I think it is very important that you see him to avoid long-term problems that could cost you even more.

Well I have a lap band slip I cannot eat any solid foods and I'm 8 mths preg . And my band was emptied completly at 22 weeks preg. It happens. I went through try results they only charge $75 for an adjustment now. I have to have my band removed. I hear that if it slips you can have all the Fluid removed and it will heal it self so if u want to keep the band I suggest getting an adjustment and trying to muster up some will power till it heals.

Thank you for this information. Why did you get your band removed?

I was really surprised they lowered their cost, when I first started going there they were charging $125.00

I have been on soft food and liquids and so far 2 days now no acid reflux and have not throw up, but Im still keeping my appt for next week cause I want to do the barium swallow

thank you

I just had my first fill at True Results on 1/31. I have a different insurance since my surgery and since I don't know if fills are covered I asked about cost. They also told me $75 but if you pay 6 months in advance they only charge $40 per fill or if you can't pay in advance you can sign an agreement to have $40 taken out of your bank account each month. Seems like a good plan to pay in advance or authorize the automatic payments.

Yes the cost has gone down dramatically . That is a plus . But I was not impressed with the care I got while pregnant and haven't spoke with my surgeon since the day of my surgery 3 yrs ago.

I'm seeing another doctor now one that actually cares about my well being and my baby. He said the slip is so bad it has to r removed . I'm trying to make it to 36 weeks I'm only 33 but my ban slipped while I had 0 fill? Dis heartening . But I honestly have had nothing but complications in fact I actually got to a point where I was to skinny can u believe it . 110 lbs. I looked hungry haha. But as soon as you have fill taken out of the band I at one point gained 20 lbs in one week . On a liquid diet. Soup and Water . I was that dehydrated. So idk . I'm glad I got to get the weight off. I know it will be a challenge once it's removed to keep it off but I want to at least be able to eat a salad now . If I never see a cup of broth or potato soup again I'm ok with that lol. Good luck to all my fellow banders Im sure your journey will be much more successful than mine . Do right by your band and it will do right by you. It's all a mental game . Be stronger than your thoughts.xoxo

I literally just posted about this. I have been banded for almost 2 years, down 85 lbs...and you would think I would know better than to wait a whole MONTH before getting an unfill when I couldn't get anything down for about 90% of the time. I had a few bad consecutive stuck/PB episodes that I believe set off a serious irritation and inflammation of my stoma. It was completely swollen shut at times!!! I was unable to get warm liquids down in the morning, and if I tried would have constant pressure in my chest with small air movement in my stomach, somewhat like very tiny burps but hardly ever anything that felt like relief. It is not until today when I got 3 cc of the 5 in my band removed that unrealized just how miserable I was. I kept thinking it would get better...and sometimes, it did. But it always went back to the same old stuck feeling. I am hoping my upper GI next week will reveal that I did not do any serious damage. Until then, I will enjoy brig bake to drink liquids freely without having chest pain or PBing multiple times daily. I am ashamed that I let it go on this long, and can blame no one but myself. The band is a tool and you have to listen to it, or you will lose it. I will never convince myself that it could possibly resolve again. Because it clearly won't! I was resistant to removing more than half of my fill, but was advised by the NP that it was my only option for allowing my stomach to heal. Thankfully it worked, and hopefully no permanent damage was done.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
