Hey everyone! I am now entering the full liquids stage and excited yet am curious how everyone does a good intake of Proteins?

I have got a recipe for a high Protein smoothie.< /p>

1/4 c. orange juice

1/2 c. skim milk

3 tbsp nonfat dry milk

1/2 packet of SF carnation instant Breakfast

It evens out at 10.5 grams of proteins Anyone have any other good ones?

Also, it seems like the selection of FF Frozen yogurt/sorbet is a little thin in my area, unless I am not looking hard enough. Anyone know of any good brans?

Just say no to from frozen yogurt!!!!!! If you want yogurt in a Protein shake add Greek yogurt a couple ice cubes (you can even make fat free frozen milk cubes) and mix in a blender. Hampton Beach personal blender is fabulous on ice. Add splendra to sweeten.

Don't fool yourself that adding frozen yogurt to a Protein Shake makes it healthy.

Also, you might want to pay attention to sugar. Orange juice may have too many grams. My doc said not to eat anything with sugar more than 5 grams per serving. You have to be really careful. Personally, I think it's better to just ingest Protein without all the additional ingredients. I take fat-free, low sugar Greek yogurt and add sweetener and vanilla or any other flavoring I might want. That makes for a high protein, low everything else dish. I've eaten it for all three meals when I was first banded. Now I eat it for Breakfast because I like it so much and sometimes I've even eaten for dessert when I felt my protein wasn't quite enough.

I agree... watch the OJ sugar content. Use Almond milk and any flavor of Protein Powder. If you want frozen add ice, or freeze a try of almond milk. I use the unsweetened.

I find it easiest just to drink a bottle of the ready to drink Premier Protein that you can get at Sam's Club ($18.88 for 12). It has 30 grams of Protein, 1 gram of sugar, 5 grams of carbs at 160 calories, plus it tastes pretty good. Sometimes I put it in the freezer for a bit and then it gets nice and thick. It's quick, portable and really convenient. You could probably get the vanilla and add flavoring or a little fruit to it for variety.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
