What is PB? What is the slime? Do you throw up always when you are stuck? Just got banded almost 2 weeks, still learning the ropes!

Sliming is when your mouth fills up with slimey saliva as a result of being stuck.

PB is Productive Burp. It's when you're stuck and burp food back up. It's not like vomiting at all, because vomiting is violent and results in your stomach muscles bunching and cramping. When you PB, it's gentle and literally just burping up food.< /p>

You should never, ever vomit. It's very dangerous with the band.

You don't always PB when you're stuck. I've been banded over a year and only PB'd twice- and both times it was totally my own fault.

You avoid it however you have to, be it OTC nausea meds or calling your surgeon for help. People get sick and there's not much we can do about that, but you should never ever be vomiting because of your band. Ever.

As per my surgeon, after a recent encounter with a stomach virus, if you are ill and going to vomit, then that is what is going to happen.

No, it's not the healthiest event for someone with a band, but single incidents should have no long term complications with your band.

I got my virus from my grandsons when I had been banded around 9 months...I had to have a small unfill to give my stomach an opportunity to calm after the irritation. Post illness and prior to the unfill, I stayed on liquids, and could not eat any solid food after 2 days, so I realized that intervention from my surgeon would be required.

I recently had the same amount of Fluid replaced and thankfully there was no significant aftereffects from vomiting. It does happen, just do your best to minimize the incidents is what I learned through my experiences.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
