Central Florida Lapbandsters?

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I'm new to this forum but I wanted to let you know that Orlando Regional Medical Center also offers lap bands with Dr. Darryl Wier, a board-certified surgeon. The next information session is at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, at ORMC. If you're interested or need more information, the Web site is Weight Loss Surgery (Bariatric).

Hello all! I'm from the Venice (south of Sarasota) area and have been debating whether or not to pursue lap-banding in my near future. I did attend one of Dr. Jesse's informational conferences several months ago and thought her to be very patient friendly.

I guess I'm looking for others in the SW area who could recommend and/or provide personal feedback about local Drs. and wouldn't mind opening lines of communication with a curious lady.

I'm really proud of you all for doing this for yourselves and love reading about your journies, whether great or not so great. Way to go!

Thanks and Best wishes to all of you!

Dr Jesse is awesomw to deal with. She spent 4 hrs working on me due to trouble from past surgeries but never gave up. I highly recommend her and the staff.

You could call Palms of Pasadena hospital or Suncoast Bariatrics and see if they can do it, both located in St. petersburg area.

Everything has been great, I had to get unfilled b/c I was too tight and everything got irritated so I couldn't swallow. I will be re-filled in two weeks though so I get to eat on Thanksgiving!! He is great and the girls in the office are wonderful.

I went for my pro-op appt a few days ago. He is very nice. He told me he wants to try a new band from johnson & johnson. He wants to gather results. I told him I would prefer the allergan band. I don't feel like being a lab rat. I trust Dr. Kim but this event is too big for me to risk it. Right now, I am on my liquid diet. Any suggesstions? I was told I have to have 4 Protein Shakes a day, 1 cup of crunchy veggies and Water. That's it! I have to do this until Dec 4th! I will make it but it is going to be super hard!!

The Protein shakes will keep you filled up. Plus, drink all of the water you can handle. This makes it easier to get your required water in later if you prcatce now. Also, dont drink 1/2 hr before or 1 hr after you eat the veggies. Another thing that will make it easier later on....Dave

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
