Physician's assistant made me feel like a failure

Recommended Posts

I called my doctor's office and cancelled the appointment with the degrading PA and set a new one with a very nice one I had previously. They gave me no problems, which tells me they almost knew why. I will be telling them about her on that appointment. I truly feel so much better after hearing from all of you. Now I know it's not me who is losing my mind!

wow, so sorry you had to go through that. She had no right to treat you that way. Any provider that refuses you a fill is doing you an injustice, in my opinion. That just defeats the purpose of why you got the band, if they won't fill it to help get you to the green zone. You should never be compared to others as everyone is different for many different reasons. My doctor even talked me into getting .5 cc fill once when I was on the fence about whether I wanted one or not. He said something that your provider needs to think about. He said "let's give you a fill so that the band is doing its job and it's not just you working hard. We have to get the band doing what it's supposed to be doing".

Just my opinion....

But most PA's are demi-Gods....they feel they need to express their authority to show you how important they are.....

I'm not saying all, but the new grads.....I work with them all the time....all I need to do is give them "The Look" (Stare)

which usually brings them back to reality and focus on what's important and get back with the team....

I may be a little late to this discussion, but so glad to see you changed your appointment. You are definitely not the crazy one. Keep up the good work and stay encouraged. You deserve to be treated with respect and have your concerns addressed. 1lb a week is good progress - and that is to be an average. That means it may not be every week. We need to stay focused on the long run and not just the short term gains.

Good for you for seeking encouragement and standing up for yourself. You will do great!

Blessings to you!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
