Need to know if anyone else has wanted their port moved?

Recommended Posts

I love reading all the posts here in the forum and I am hesitant to even type this first post but I am. I am just over 2 years post surgery and I am at my goal weight and have been for some time. Now that I have lost my weight and haven't had any real changes on the scale in probably 8 months, I have been wrapping to tighten the areas that I needed to so badly but I am thinking of moving my port. I don't want to have it removed totally I just am considering having it moved. Now that my stomach is getting flat there is a area where my port is that stick out more. I am not having any problems it is just that it looks weird to have one side of my stick out further than the other. Anyone else with the same problem? I just know if I should let it for now or not? Will it be less noticeable. Thank you, Barbara

I had my port moved Dec. 2010 because when I wore tight clothes at my waist it was uncomfortable. Since I had it moved, the surgeon put in a smaller one. I had it moved to about 2 inches below my belly button on my left side. It is a 20 min. out patient procedure. I was put to sleep to do it but didn't take long and I was home before I knew it.

I am newly banded 1-17-2013 but my surgeon told me that it is very common to have them moved. I will most likely have mine moved at some point at he put it a few inches bellow my breast plate (where both sides of my ribs meet in the middle. It seems to me to be a bad location as I seem to bump it at work. As well as it pokes out and my wife is not to happy with the placement either because it looks funny.

Cheers,

I looked into it. The option my surgeon gave me was to put in a low profile port, that way it wouldn't stick out. The cost was 4,000 dollars. I decided to live with it.

Vlp, insurance paid to move mine maybe your insurance would too if it is causing you pain by bumping into it etc

They actually make a low profile port, too. I've heard of quite a few people having their original ports moved and replaced with low profile ones.

Honestly, if it's something that bothers you, I think you should do it. I mean, you did all the work to lose the weight. You deserve to fully enjoy it without being self conscious about your port.

Thank you everyone. I think I will setup an apt to talk to him about my options. I really appreciate the feedback

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
