It looks like I am losing my band. The infectious Disease Specialist feels that my infection cannot be cleared up after trying for several months. Next step is band removal. Heal for a couple of months and decide what's next. The Gastric Sleeve looks so drastic. Feeling a huge loss already at losing my Band.

Maybe you should let your wounds heal and look at this again in a few months or a year? There's a new procedure that is being researched right now that is much less invasive. It's called endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty. You can keep your stomach and there's no slicing and dicing of your body. Check out this link:

Hi - I have been in contact with a Dr who performs this surgery outside of Canada and the U.S. My band removal surgery is Monday. Bittersweet after 10 years! I have to heal for a couple of months before I have any other procedure. I want to thank you for putting me on to the Endoscopic Sleeve. I am researching it and if you know of anyone who has had it I would really appreciate connecting with them. It appears only 1 Canadian has had it and it was done in the Dominican. It is not offered here.

Have any of you old timers 10 year plus ever run into leaking bands? I was doing great no adjustments in last 4 years when suddenly lost 8 out of 9 cc. Refilled and it lasted 4 months. What about heavier viscosity Fluid? Ie mineral oil?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
