I am 9 days out and feel mostly better except where my port is. It had been so difficult to sleep because I am a tosser and turner. If I am not extremely careful when moving I feel a lot of pain where the port is. Did anyone experience this and if so, how long did it last?

I am only 2 days out but I am surprised by the amount of pain around my port. If I move incorrectly the pain is incredibly sharp. It bites! I was also wondering how long this would last.

I couldn't really think of the right words to describe the pain but I think you are spot on with how it feels.

I had surgery the end of September and my port area was painful for about the first 4 weeks, to varying degrees, and now is painful after Pilates. The port is sewn into an abdominal muscle and that muscle is going to be painful until it is completely healed, which can take several weeks. For me, it was a good reminder that my stomach probably wasn't completely healed yet either, so I tended to be more careful all around and follow the surgeon's orders better than I might have otherwise.

I am one week out and the port pain is still pretty intense, but it does seem to get better everyday. I talked to my surgeon and was assured that it is all totally normal.

2 months out and I can't even remember where the port is without looking at the incision. It gets better :-)

Port is the last to heal... Mine was almost 8 weeks, I hope your will be sooner. But it does go away! I promise!

Just hearing that it is normal and will go away makes me feel better already!

I still have port pain & I'm 9 month post-op. I was advised that it has to do with my stomach muscles & how much I'm working them (i.e., working out, tossing & turning at night). Most day it's fine, but some days, it's pretty painful. Prior checks of the port placement have indicated that the port itself is fine; just my body's way of dealing w/ it. I'm presuming I will just have to live w/ it some days! :-) Good luck!

That kinda stinks. Small price to pay, I guess? Mine is improving as each day passes. I just hope I don't catch a cold because sneezing and coughing are a "pain."

The doctors usually connect the port to a muscle and everytime you bend over it pulls on the muscle. That's why it gives discomfort so long. It will go away.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
