This is why I didnt tell anyone. I didnt want their negative views affecting my decision.

I am so sorry that he feels that way. I was scared to tell my dad too for that same reason. I didn't object at first because he didn't know enough about it and said so. Since I have done it, he has been supportive and is coming around a little more.

Maybe if you get him to read more about it and do some research he will change his mind or at least try to be more supportive.

Just remember too, he is not the one that has to live your life, you do. You will be the one to deal with your consequences. As long as you know full hearted what you are walking into you will do great!

Much love and hugs.

Hi Erin,

Its not the easy way out, and soon your Dad will see that by all the hard work and effort you will be putting into this to lose weight, and more importantly stay healthy..

Best wishes,

well, easy way out?

i always smile when i hear that

all those pre op appts and endless tests and dr visits. 10+

hospital pre admissions, liquid diets, hospital stays, dr follow ups a month for

the first year, fills........yeah its easy alright

way easier to eat junk food, sit on your as* and make excuses and whine

and say lets just get bypass, that way i can still eat instead of changing my attitude and life...

YOU are not doing that..you are taking control of your life..YOU are a success. so go for it. do not anyone stop you. this is YOUR life.

end of sermon

While having your father's support is ideal, I'm sure, do you need it to move forward? Being 25 when I had it done, I was living on my own but my parents and I are very close. I had told them about this and my decision, and it took them some time to come around. For some of my friends and roommates, I had them come to a support group meeting to see what it involved, and that was helpful.

Do what you feel is right, and be sure its an informed decision. I find that generally in life, even if people disagree with your choices, they can respect them--that might be the best bet here.

I don't think this is the easy way out by any means! My father blessing would be great but honestly I know I will not get it! He is a 6 ft man that is paper thin and is an advided cyclest and has really never had a weight problem my mom on the other had has been over weight most of her life has lost weight on her own and has kept it off! So there are kinda hard headed about things!

Just curious...is Dad paying for your band? Because if he isn't.... I sure would not worry about it. Remember he isn't as educated about it as you are.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
