SOooo. Not losing at all!

Recommended Posts

I was banded Dec 26th, and as of TODAY I haven't lost a pound. I'm depressed. At first, I couldn't east much due to swelling, but lately I can pretty much eat anything. I've been trying my best to keep my calories down but I. Am. Hungry.

I'm not filled, and I go for my first full on the 31st and I am desperately hoping that gets things moving.

Anyone other December bandsters having any trouble? Hate to vent, but this is frustrating!

What you're going through is pretty normal. We call it bandster hell, because you have no fills and don't feel any different yet are expected to eat like a bandster. It's very difficult.

Keep in mind the first 4-6 weeks are for healing, so don't be overly concerned about the scale. Just try to be patient because as long as you're eating band sized portions and watching your calories, the loss will come, it just may take a couple fills before the band starts to diminish your hunger for you.

Best wishes.

You should see some of the replies in the December Bandwagon Supporters thread. We are All going through this. I was banded December 19th. I even posted that I may have the placebo band. LOL you are not alone. Several of us are going through this phase. Please don't get discouraged. We are all in this together.

This isn't going to make you happy, but I'm going to be honest with you.

I am an October bandster with 1-3cc fill still in bandster hell.I really should have had a second 2cc fill, but it has been delayed for a couple wks.

This is a time we have to be strong and remember how badly we want this.

Stick to the bandster rules, work through your hunger by keeping busy. Its about mind over matter right now.

I'm sure all of us were able to diet for a few months in the past, thats what we have to do now. The band will kick in, my Dr promised me.lol. Hang in there!

When I was banded back in 2009, my doctor did not give me my first fill for a month, and then after that it was an adjustment every month. I really wanted him to hurry up grrr lol... But he is conservative and he wanted to make sure I healed from the initial surgery. I understand it's better to be careful about things than rush in and have complications. For me, I did not feel any restriction until ~7 mL fill so until that time, it was like not having the band at all. It didn't take me one month to get to 293 lbs so I figured I could wait a few months to get some restriction to finally help me lose the weight. congrats on your band and good luck! :)

I needed to hear this as well. Thank you for saying this. I was banded 12/20 and I've lost 24 pounds overall but all but about 6-8 of that was pre-surgery! I feel like I can eat anything I want too and I'm also ALWAYS hungry. My first fill is 2/11. Trying to hang in there until then!! :) Love this site!

the first month is for basically healing and getting your mind frame in the game...so dont worry about (not losing right now).....follow your dr's guidelines..stick with it no matter what and soon, very soon, you will notice a big difference...you must heal first and the best thing you can do is realize this is a process and not an overnight miracle. ..so just because you can whatever, does not mean you should..still use your allotted amounts.

Take it one day at a time. Follow you doctor's orders and the weight loss will come. Healing does delay the process a bit, but you will lose weight if you do the right things about eating. You have to WANT it right now and push your will power to the extreme. It gets easier, I promise! Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
