I've been so excited for everyone getting their approvals today so, I decided to check on my status...

I've been denied again! I'm starting to think maybe this just isn't going to happen for me? I'm waiting on the surgeons office to call & see what is up!

So upset right now..

How frustrating! I was denied initially because of my visits to the nutritionist so I went 1 more time and Aetna approved me the next day! My secondary was still reviewing my auth the day of my surgery and luckily approved it later that day as well! So don't give up! If you meet the qualifications and its covered by your insurance, they should approve you!

I was also denied by insurance. However, I did not let that get me down. I started that day saying I would do something. So I worked 3 jobs, started eating right, and started walking. Within a year I was able to come up with half of the money for surgery and was down almost 30 pounds! I had my surgery and continued with my journey. It wasn't a quick fix, I have had many ups and downs, but it was worth the hard work it took to get here! Anything worth having is worth the hard work! If you want it, make it happen!

So sorry to hear that!!! I took about 5 months before I made a decision to get it done and when I finally made the appointment.... I was so nervous I was going to be denied!!! I totally agree absolutely do not give up!! See how much it is put of pocket and see if you can do a payment plan. There has to be something!! Look at your policy and see what it says about covering procedures that are "medically necessary". There may be a loop hole. I've heard other banders who have got approval because they read there policy and found out themselves or have set up payment plans. Work hard and never give up!! You will get what you want in the end if you just be persistent!!!! I'm sending good thoughts to you!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
