When did you feel hungry?

Recommended Posts

After surgery while on the liquid diet when did you start to feel hungry? Did you struggle with the liquid portion of the diet? Just want an idea of how others have felt hunger wise after surgery. Surgery for me next week!!!

Thanks!!!

I was feeling fine one day out, and got hungry then.

It was soo hard not to eat for a whole week (my doc had me on liquids for a week i think).

Everyone told me that because of swelling i'd have no appetite, but unfortunately that wasn't the case and i really struggled.

Day 3 for me, I can feel the hunger, but it is like it is behind a thick curtain. Swelling is down quite a bit from Monday, but having a hard time getting enough calories into me. I get skim milk tomorrow, so that should help.

seems like I was hungry all the time. I didn't work to much about weight loss just healing the gas was so painful. I used cream Soups (made with Water type) and my own home made chicken broth it seems lie forever. As I got to fill 3 everything is fine now and I don't get hungry any more and it is wonderful. I am down 47 lbs 3 more lbs to get under 200 not been there for over 300 yrs. yippee

I didn't start getting really hungry until about the 4th day post op. But even then I was only able to get down 2 ounces about four times a day. I still don't think my appetite is where it should be but I'm definitely not eating to the point of being full. I just eat enough to not be hungry so it could be I'm not stretching my pouch out? Or I'm just a late bloomer. I figure the appetite will come around.

I did not have to do liquids after surgery.. My dr advanced me right to mushy foods once I passed a barium swallow study and I'm on them for 5 weeks before I advance again.. I did however do 3 and half weeks of pre op liquid diet I was hungry the first week then forgot what it was like to eat lol and didn't get hungry anymore.. Good luck with everything.. I hope you feel satisfied soon it can be frustrating!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
