Hey everyone. I'm also two days post op and have been having a lot of gas pain. I've been drinking Water, walking around, and of course taking Gas-x. It helps, but I'm still in pain. I see that people keep mentioning heating pads, and this may sound stupid, but where would I put the heating pad to help with the gas? Thanks!

U might not ever get rid of the gas, I had surgery in Sept 2012 and I still get the non stop belching or well u know lol I tell people just don't get to close lol mostly us girls and I just try to stay far enough so I don't get embarrased if guys r around and about the heating pad I had a rough time so I just used my hot water bottle on my back but they also say to put a lot of pillows behind u , I know when I did I could sit & sleep better I could also get up eaiser but if the Doctor prescribed u pain meds TAKE THEM ALSO SIP SIP SIP that's my only suggestion that worked for me but try diffrent things so u can find the one that works for u .

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
