Pain suddenly ended, should I worry?

Recommended Posts

I had my band in on Dec 20th. Everything seemed normal, meaning it was difficult to eat a small amount of yogurt, lots of gas and pain. I swore I could feel exactly where the band was around my stomach. Then a couple days ago I woke up and I have no pain at all (except on the large incision). No pain when I eat. I can't feel the band. It's like I never got one. Is this normal/common?

Of course its normal. You won't have pain forever. I don't even know my band is there unless I get something stuck

cheryl is right. as your body heals, the pain and swelling will subside...i have never felt my band at all. i guess because it is under neath all that fat.....but i can now feel my port pretty good. (that is because i am losing weight)...that is a good thing :)

Thanks, I was just surprised how it went from horrible to perfect over night and I was worried somehow it had slipped or popped open.

I had my band adjusted on 12/26 and have had problems everyday. Cannot keep anything down, was on IV at home for 4 days to keep from getting dehydrated.

You may be able to feel your port as its sewn into the wall of your abdomen... but you cannot feel your band... its wrapped around your stomach which is behind the liver...so its not accessable to our feel.

If you have no pain that sounds pretty normal to me. Congrats!

I was banded 12/31, feel crummy and sore today, so I can't wait until the "no pain" part! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
