100 Miles in January 2013 Challenge

Recommended Posts

Wow, what a great idea. Guess I need to get out of bed and start before work today. This will get me back on the treadmill. Thank you for the idea and the help. Wishing you all a healthy, happy New Year. We need to walk about 3.5 miles a day. I plan to bulk up on my miles on the weekends when the demands of life are less.

I agree! When I was training for a marathon I would do 14-18 miles on Saturdays. Today is my day off so I'm gonna do 6. Thanks for joining!

Wow! 100 miles ! I'll admit I don't think I can hit that this time of year . Last time I did, it was 110 miles run/hike/walk in July . It's easier for me in the summer, I teach and am off work then. Now I am lucky to get about 12-13 miles/week in on runs and since it's snowshoe season, we end up doing half the distance (of what we.usually hike weekly) yet work just as hard.

But I am inspired to work on some my kind of distance goal! I'll have to look at my winter average last year and try to beat my highest.

Please join and post anyway. The goal is to keep us all moving in the right direction. I'm in Cali and I have the gym a block away AND I have a treadmill in my bedroom so I admit I'm set up more for success because its not snowing outside.

New Years day! Snowshoe! Not very far (snow shoeing is twice as hard as hiking!) but it's a start, plus it was gorgeous! 3.28 miles!

Amazing!

Thanks! Now, back to the work week! Treadmill runs, etc. I prefer getting outside, but that has to wait until the weekend!

Anyone using mapmyrun.com to track miles?

I use a free Nike run app that tracks your route and records your data. I like that I can have an accurate measure no matter where I choose to walk.

The cold can make us want to stay in bed. WE ALL KNOW, we need to keep moving. What better way than a movement challenge.

I am starting a January challenge to walk/run 100 miles in January (60k) Log in your miles each Saturday of January.

For those of you wondering, that means TOMORROW it starts..

Who can hear the Rocky theme song in their ears right now? If not, what song will be your January motivation?

Jump in all!

i cant as far as you guys, but can walk 30 mins a day

and have no idea how far but i am walking..

does that count??

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
