I consider this a blessing. Eager to learn more and more as I await April, I am happy to have found this site. Hi Annie!

I'm sorry it took so long to reply to you...I have been a little sick and was not on the site much. I hope this finds you well! How did your first doctor appointment go? Where are you going? I'm going to Dr. Karl Strom at Bayshore Hospital in Holmdel, NJ. Are you scared of the surgery? Is that what you mean? I'm a little nervous myself...but know I have to do something. My knees have blown out due to my weight, and my time for dieting my own way is done...I have to look at the surgery as a blessing...another chance to strart fresh. Please let me know how you made out...I will respond sooner. Thanks, God bless, and remember...we can do it! :) Kathleen

Hi All, I am hoping my date will be in April. I went to my first appointment Jan 29. My Psyc and Nutr is on Feb 20 and my last appointment will be March 18th. Hopefully, It will be mid-April. I am also going for surgery for carpal tunnel on April 5th. So I am hoping, the time I will have to take off of work, will also cover the time for lap band surgery. Good luck to all of you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
