what multi-vitamins to take??

Recommended Posts

What multi-vitamins is everyone taking? Do you like taking them? Do you feel good taking them? I am horrible at taking Vitamins and have noticed a significant change in my skin and hair (hair thinning bad). Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Hi YankeeChick~

I keep it simple and take "Flinstones Complete" chewable tablets, 1x day with one of my meals. Then I take 2 Caltrates Soft Chews, 1 with my Breakfast and 1 after my lunch or dinner. They are chocolate flavored, so it feels like I'm having a bite of dessert when I take them after my meal.

I've been banded for 17 days now, and I have not noticed any difference with my hair. My hair is sligthly below my shoulders now, and I have thick hair, so it might be too early or difficult to tell if any changes have occured or not...time will tell I guess. The good news is, the thinning won't last and your hair will grow back, but you still need to take your Vitamins :)

The Flinstones are really good- I don't mind them at all.

Good Luck!

I like the Celebrate cherry chewable multi-vitamins, they don't make me nauseous like the Vitaband Vitamins. I notice that when people around me are getting colds, I do not, and I know for a fact that my immunity system is not 100% (past smoker). hair and nails do seem better, but I also take Biotin, so I'm not sure which to contribute that to as biotin is supposed to be for that purpose.

I do take Biotin daily and tried the Flinstones with Iron (per my surgeons suggestion) and Bariatric Advantage multi and Calcium and all 3 made me so queezy. So much that I have no desire to take them. I was taking a multi that agreed with me (pre surgery) but the gel capsules are horse pills! I'm not sure I can take them. I will check out the other brands and go from there. Thanks!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
