Maintence Weight Calories

Recommended Posts

I was banded May of this year lost 105 lbs at my goal which is 164.. I have been on 1200 calories daily exercising 4 x week (30 min treadmill). Nutrionist says can bump up calorie intake to 1500. I'm not convinced thats what I shld do for fear of gaining weight, yet if I follow 1200 do I continue to lose? Any advice ? Love the forums been sitting back n reading them for the past year but yet to participate!!

I maintain on about 1,000 a day sometimes less. I don't like to increase my calories for fear of gaining but that is just me.

How much did you lose over how long?

I go from 1100 to 1500 a day + walk 4 days a week. I'm 3 weeks out (in bandster hell, so very Hungry) so far so good though. I hope I can stay this way and lose?

I lost eating 1000 calories for 2 years. Now I am not tracking because I am maintaining so I focus on portions more than calories...however after doing it for 2 years I tend to have a running total for the day in my head and it's about 1500.

But I remember u saying u didn't work out while u lost either?

The days I don't work out I stick to 1000 (thanks to your advice) but I sometimes walk 90 mins a day 4 times a week!

that is correct. I never did any formal exercise however I did start walking a mile after I lost the first hundred. And you are right...that's why I kept my calorie count low....

Every once in awhile I will put what I eat in MFP, and see where I am at. Im usually still around 1200 calories. I know there are some days that I eat more. But I usually just go off my scale. If I see myself going up a couple of pounds, I go really easy the next couple of days. This has worked for over nine months now, so I will stick with this and see how it works for me...

100lb give or take over about three years (most of it in the first 18months)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
