Hi There

I have made the decision to go with the surgery. My fear isn't the surgery itself. My fear is failing. Did anyone or does anyone feel this way?

Yes I felt the same way! But I'm 10 days post op and have lost 24lbs. I slipped up yesterday and ate a half sandwich! Shame on me but I feel super guilty and will not risk complications for food again. I'm sure you will do fine and I'm sure that fear of failing will motivate you to stay strong and do as your told!!

I was in the same boat you were years ago. I didn't want anyone to know until they started asking what was my trick for loosing so much weight. At that point I would spill it. You can't fail at this though if you remember it's only a tool to help you loose. You still have to change eating habits and exercise. There's no way around it. You will have some bad days, maybe, we're all different. But if you do get those days, know that tomorrow will be another day and keep trying.

I am really concerned about the mushy foods. Hopefully I can just cut food really small and chew it to death. I'm scared until I know. If you don't feel full you just go back?

Hi!!! I am 4 weeks post op and super happy. It is a challenge but I keep looking at the light at the end of the tunnel. Just keep on focusing on healing and your Drs advise. You will do great!!!

I think pretty much all of us has failed many dieting attempts and wondered if this was going to be just another failed attempt. If we follow the rules we will succeed this time.

When I was just banded I worried everyday if I messed something up. Drinking too much, not enough, too big a bite, chewing enough. I think it's normal.

The band will let you know if you really mess up.

I am not sure what you mean.... We all must learn to eat until we are satisfied ...not full. Once the post up liquid was over Mr dr had me eating 3 oz of protien, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c starch at every meal. No more than that.

Everyone has their tales of fear of failure. You have to WANT this for yourself, because it is still a lot of work, not a magic procedure or spell the doctor casts over you.

Thank you. Yes I guess failure is always a thought. Failed diet one after another. Especially when you pay so much. I will get there. Just scary. I love drinking Water. That is a plus

Actually very few people will know about the surgery. It is non of their business how much it costs and that would be a bug topic of conversation

And it does get annoying after a while repeating the same story and how the band works after a while

Scaried of failing? Yup every day!

But try to have faith in yourself, that's what I am doing.

I was banded Monday.

Long road ahead: complete with fast lanes, slow lanes, pot holes, detours, people cutting you off, etc. just keep your eyes on the road, you'll arrive.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
