So, my surgery is Monday, and the medical team claims I only need childrens tylenol for pain after surgery? Are you kidding!?!?! Gimme some vicodin! Makes no sense to me

oh no, I had the good stuff. Didn't need it around the clock but was good to know that I had it. Good luck.

Maybe they will give you a prescription for liquid vicodin. If you get one, please fill it as a precaution. Tylenol is not strong enough.

This is my first day post op and trust me Tylenol would not have cut it girl. Tell your surgeon when he comes to talk to you prior to surgery or the anesthesiolgist.

Ridiculous, I would like to do major surgery on you physician and only give him or her Tylenol. I would discuss this with them again and insist on medication.

I only had liquid tylenol. You'll make it

Also prescription pain killers constipate you. Just make sure to take it on a schedule.

I had liquids Tylenol at home. I did have prescription pain meds, too, but they do constipate you. Ask for some, but use it with caution, only as needed. But get up and walk ASAP. It will help the pain, and gas pain. GAS pain is the worst of all. (at least was for me)! The more walking you do, the less pain. So walk, walk, walk!!!Best wishes, Karen

I found that the gas pains came worse about day 5. That seems to be when the pain in teh left shoulder started. I found that walking helped move the gas. if too bad, try Gas-x strips! best wishes, Karen

I took my painkillers for 1 day just because I was afraid of the pain that I might have, it never came. I can honestly say I didn't have one stitch of pain from the second I walked out of the clinic. I was off all pain medication on day 2. Everyone is different, and even though I didn't get pain, my dr did prescribe me 30 oxycodone (I used 4) - so I am sure he was anticipating something. Personally I would ask for something as backup in case the tylenol doesn't cut it.

good luck.

I was given a bottle of childrens liquid tylenol but I didnt end up using it. I didnt need any painkillers after my surgery. Guess I was one of the lucky ones. Barely had any gas either.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
