A robe. They will have you up and walking very soon after surgery and those stupid hospital gowns are notorious for flashing your bottom. A robe will allow you to walk around without giving everyone a free show ;)

Loose fitting clothes for the ride home, maybe a house dress or sweat pants. Definitely not blue jeans or anything tight around your middle.

I agree with above, loose fitting clothing for ride home, sweats or lounge pants and a tee if you are in warm weather. Magazine maybe but like above you will be up walking and the more you can walk the better off you are, moving that gas around and out of you so that you don't have pain later. Mine was same day surgery, I was at the hospital at 5:30 am and came home by 1:00 that day, needless to say I layed around for the most part that afternoon but by night I was up walking as much as I could to prevent blood clots. Oh, and sip sip sip on Water and ice chips, got to keep hydrated. I'm so excited for you and your new journey. Good luck.

Take tolitries, as if you were staying some were. I stayed 2 nights instead of one so you could always pack some p.js dont forget undies!!!!!! When walking around you can always ask for a second gown and put it the other way so you dont have your arse flappin in the breeze! Just trackie pants and t-shirts cos after all we arent there to impress anyone!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
