Video of me getting a fill

Recommended Posts

He was removing the Fluid to check how much was in the band before he started. This is one way for he or she to check that your band does not have a leak in it. On the video, I think I interrupted his train of thought and he wanted to make sure he put in the correct amount. I talk about this in my book as well.

Thanks,

Wade

Thanks for putting this up. This is so important for us future bandsters to see, or bandsters that have not been filled yet. I really wondered what it looked like. Believe it or not I was imagining a much bigger needle. thanks again.

It is really not that bad. As you will see by most people posting here. Hopefully it at least helps you understand and knowledge is important.

I just wanted to let everyone know the Video to date has been viewed over 1,200 times. Many I think are from this board but others around the internet are checking it out.

Susan - I was so freaked out about the needle that I almost cried! The doc had to have his nurse hold my hand! LOL I swear, I didn't even feel a sting, or a pinch, nothing at all. I really felt stupid for being so afraid, after it was over! LOL So don't be scared. The needles are so thin, you just cant feel them.

Wade - You have a famous belly! w00t!

Just had my first fill yesterday and it was just like Wade has here. It didn't hurt at all! No numbing stuff just the fill needle. My doc had me lift my legs a bit so the stomach muscles give something for the port to be felt again easier, One poke in moved a little and BINGO. 1.25 cc in my 4cc band. Easy! If he told me I had to go back tomorrow to do it again I'd be fine that's how little it bothered me.

Thanks again for the video!

Great video wade. It is interesting to see it from that perspective as we are always laying down and cant really see anything. My fills never hurt either. Sometimes my doc has me put my head up like he did you, othertimes nope. Fills are not a scary thing, they are a good thing!

I know it was one of my big questions post-op because all I kept hearing was how big the needle they used. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words! So how many words did the video speak??

You are all welcome!!

I thought I would post the comments made by one of the people that got my LapBand book:

"Hi Wade, I just finished the book and I had to write to tell you what an awesome job you did. This book is so chocked full of valuable and informative information I can't stand it! Can't stand it in a good way :-) I can tell you really put a lot of time and effort into pulling this information together. The 100 reason...at the end was hilarious. And I had to say that I am guilty of several of you listed faux pas listed at the end.

I will be refer back to this book I'm sure as I continue in my journey. I have my first doctors appointment to discuss options and ask questions on May 4th and I can wait. Thanks for putting this great book together. I laughed, I cried, it was better than Cats!! LOL...

Twana"

The video is also now been seen over 2,000 times according to my website count.

Just in case anyone had problems getting to the video, it should work now. My website provider had a server crash and it was down for a couple of days.

Thanks,

Wade

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
