Please don't cheat anymore. It' defeats the purpose. The pre op diet is hard for several reasons... To shrink your liver for a successful surgery, to teach you you can survive on limited calories and in my case (since I was on a 2 week liquid pre op diet ) that I didn't need to eat food to survive...I just needed nutrition. Also I don't know what kind of post op diet you'll be on my mine was liquids for 2 more weeks then mushies.... So I was an old pro by the time that came around.

Best wishes for a successful surgery.

Your nerves are very normal. I was on a preop diet for a whole month. Three Optifast shakes per day, 2 cups of vegetables at night. I wasn't 100% compliant and there were a few nights I did have Protein with my vegetables when the hunger was really bad, my doctor said it was fine.

I still lost over 22 pounds that month and my liver had shrunk enough for a safe operation.

Best wishes to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
