Protein shakes vs slimfast

I was looking at slim fast and Proteins shakes (both premade) today. It appears they had the same amount of Protein, same calories etc. the only difference was 1 more carb in the Protein shake. Does anyone know if there is really a difference or is it just packaging?

As long as it has the protein you need you are fine.

I drink Whey protein shakes with I make by adding milk. I use jay robb, like it 'cause it is low in carb, high in protein 25 and very low in sugar (no fake sugars; sucralose, aspartame). great flavor with milk or soy milk you get lots of your daily protein!

you can buy a shaker with a mixing ball inside to make them, easy! much more nutritious for you.

check the carbs , sugar and protei. I didnt think slim fast was high in protein, i could be wrong

If you compare it to a good brand, like for instance unjury, then Slimfast is seriously lacking.

Slimfast

Calories: 220

Fat: 3g

Protein: 10g

Carbs: 40g

Unjury

Calories: 180

Fat: 0g

Protein: 21g

Carbs: 4g

Get a good, quality protein shake. Slimfast definitely isn't it.

Best wishes.

The type of Protein and amount of protein a shake/drink has makes all the difference. As a bariatric patient, you have special protein needs which can't be properly met by things like Carnation "Instant Breakfast" or event a shake like "Atkins Advantage" shakes.

Whey Isolate protein is considered to be a complete protein which contains all of the amino acids for proper nutrition and absorption. My surgeon advised that I needed to only have whey protein, and I have followed his instructions.

Whey protein powders are a bit more expensive, but your health and well being is also important.

I encourage you to ask your medical team questions, and also become a "label reader"...not just for Protein Shakes but for everything you eat.

GNC has a number of whey protein choices...and my protein shakes when mixed with 1% milk provide 37g of protein. The nice thing about GNC products is that they come with a refund guarantee.

Likely you will have to try several types of shakes before you find one or two you like. It's an important part of a bandster life.

Best wishes...

My stomach cant handle the Protein shakes so I use Carnation Intstant Breakfast with a scoop of 0 fat greek yogurt and a scoop of 0fat cottage cheese. I mix it all with some skim milk and a handful of blueberries or raspberries.

Works for me and keeps me full a very long time.

I agree you should use whey isolate as it is a better form of protein. I know slim fast does now make a higher protein shake but they're older products are much too high in calories for the level of protein you get.

i was told one of my opitons i carnation instant breakfast mixed with non fat dry milk. My dr also gave me a list of shakes and guidelines to picking out my own. When in doubt call doctor.

I only did the porotein shakes I week before surgery and my Dr said save your money and use Slim Fast . Now I use whey .

No matter what the option listen to your doctors or nutritionist if you have any doubts.

Hello this is my first post. My nutritionist recommend me to use Atkins advantage or EAS AdvantEDGE and avoid slim fast, carnation and kellogs brands due to the sugar content and higher carbs. My favorite is Atkins Mocha late.

The slim fast low carb had only 2 grams sugar, 4 carbs, 21 grams protein for 200 calories. I used them when I was on the go for the convenience of being premixed
