Recommended Posts

I'm only one month in but I have a 14cc with 6 ccs in it - from date of surgery I've actually only lost 10lbs from my starting weight it's been about 30, everyone is different just remember body will lose the weight when it's ready as long as you are eating healthy :-)

I think I was expecting a miracle with the weight just falling off me!! I know realise that was Ive been told must be true. IM NOT EATING ENOUGH. I am going to sit down today and write out a diet sheet of around 800 to 1000 calories and stick to it. I've downloaded Myfitnesspal and will use that as an aid. Everyone has done amazing. I'm on 6ml of a 10ml band (.5 of a mil fill last week) I think I may struggle with all the calories so may have to admit defeat and ask for the .5 to be taken back out but we'll see. Good luck everyone and well done! Ps dies everyone burp a lot too?? ???³

I used to burp all of the time. Then I had a too tight episode and a slight unfill. Since then rarely do I burp.

You will be shocked but I eat 1600 calories a day. I plan to keep doing that as long as it keeps working for me. When I was eating less I had less energy and couldn't keep up with my workout schedule. Find what works for you. Under 1000 calories a day didn't give me enough energy but each of us is different. Good luck.

I've burped since day 1 lol. Yea I decided on around 1000 calories as I done that 5 years ago with weight watchers and lost 3 stone (all went back on) so that must be my comfort area. I am sure it will be a lot easier sticking to it with the aid if my trusty band too lol. He's to what I am calling now my Day 1 of proper weight loss. I think to many people just think 'if I don't eat I'll lose weight' not as easy as that. Re education is more important x

You can add me also, I am on maintenance so I eat a little more these days.

LovetheNewMe of MFP also. And you are correct about needing to eat to lose, I found that I lost more weight I had to eat more to continue to lose, in the beginning I was eating well below a 1000 calories and this worked for me but as I got closer to goal I just stopped losing for over 7 months and finally started to lose once I increased Protein to over 90 gms and increased my calorie intake to 1000-1200. Good luck to you.

Do you track your food? If not' date=' join something like myfitnesspal.com and track EVERYTHING you put into your mouth. Be completely honest and you might find out what is stalling you. If you make an account, add me, I'm destynee13. It's pretty cool to see other's food journals and it helps to give you idea's on what to eat. Are you sticking to 1 cup per meal?[/quote']

Yep tracking and working out calories in and calories out! Thank you for the encouragement. I use my fitness pal I'm adding you!

I had surgery in August. I was 232 and now I am 185. I use fitnesspal and I track every bite I put in my mouth (600-700 calories a day). I drink 75 ounces of Water a day. I exercise 5 days a week. Everyone loses weight at a different pace. It may take longer but as long as it comes off and stays off.

Good luck with your journey!! You are doing great!!

OMG you are doing great! How amazing did it feel to break 200. You are at my goal! Which gives me hope.

Well I started Myfitnesspal yesterday and was 100% truthful. I am amazed at the little things and everything you eat really adds up calorie wise. Sunday and Christmas shopping was a hard day, we ate out to In Wagamamas and I just went for a steamed gyozo started thinking 'steamed' cant be bad. They were actually highin calories???! I had an omelette in the morning and still needed Protein so later that evening baked a fillet of trout to get me to 65g of protein. With a few walnut halves as Snacks. I felt like I ate loads yesterday so lets see if this calorie counting dies work. I'm trying 1000, it's hard to know what you need. I went by Slimfast diet as its 2 shakes a day at just over 400 for both and a 600 meal which is recommended. I'll keep you all posted x

This week I learned two important lessons the hard way!

1. The more Water you drink the faster you lose weight.

2. Never weigh in every day. Every other day is better. You may not see loss every day for many reasons and you'll get discouraged!

I forgot one thing, sometimes you don't lose weight but you lose the inches. It makes sense! Protein makes muscle and we are drinking protein and building muscle through exercise! The inches go but you won't see it on the scale!

Cheer up guys, it's working!

I sat down earlier for an afternoon In front of the TV but then though NO and went to the pool and swam for 45 minutes with a 5 minute jacuzzi break! How good was I lol. Came out and felt a little tired So whizzed up a quick apple and blackberry smoothie for a bit of energy!

I feel same about daily weighing. I was getting so despondent. Not gonna do it anymore I know I'm losing inches as my clothes are so lose just wished the scales had been matching that. But let's see how sticking to the daily calories helps xx good luck guys x

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
