Gall Stone!!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I write this in a very angry state at the moment ! I have just spent 24 hours in hospital after the worst pain I've ever felt in my back and just under my boobs. I had an ultrasound which revealed a gall stone! Although I've now been pain free for a while I am still needing my gall bladder removed on the 17th of December. As you can imagine I'm very frustrated after having only recovered from lapband a few weeks ago!!! The surgeon told me gall stones can occur from rapid weight loss, has anyone else experienced this before? Not a happy camper!!! :(

I've heard quite a few on here saying that's happened. Take care!

I was on a liquid diet in the early 90s and lost 100 lbs in like a week and a half....lol. Of course that's an exaggeration but it was very fast... A few Months maybe

I had the worst pain one day and was admitted for emergency gall bladder surgery... Luckily they were able to do it laparoscopically but of course I had to get off the liquid diet and put the weight right back on

It's no fun but at least you will never have to worry about it again

Feel better!

I had my gall bladder removed in 2001. I had lost about 40 lbs in 2000. do you know, that writing this was a ahaw moment forme. I had completely forgotten about the 40 lb loss in 2000. Anyway, it is the most excruiating pain I ever wanted to go through. Good luck, the recovery is not too bad, as long as they remove all the stones! I, also, had lapiscropic surgery, and only have a couple extra small scares. Karen

Thanks everyone, I'm okay at the moment, haven't really felt any pain for a couple of days so I'm strictly sticking to a low fat diet which should keep the pain at bay until my surgery and hopefully will help me loose a bit more weight seeing as I can't have anything put into my band before my operation, it's basically like having the Optifast diet all over again but with a few less restrictions, but I'm happy to do it if it means i won't experience that horrible pain again!

Well I would say your silver lining is doctor will do it as a laproscopic surgery. When I was a freshman in college I lost 100 pounds and ended up having have gallbladder surgery and it was regular open surgery so I have to see about a 4 inch scar from it. Also as long as you're allowed solid foods this is just a very low fat diet. In order to have surgery during spring break I ended up having to wait about 3 and a half months before I can have my gallbladder out. And I was eating at college cafeteria

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
