A few ladies in Mesquite, Texas had a clothing swap, Keri aka Banded for life held it at her house and we all swapped clothes and chatted. It was nice. I dont know what state everyone reside in but maybe you could get one started in your area.

I think a clothing swap would be a great idea. I was planning on buying all my clothes at Wally World or on ebay while losing.

You know, my hubby's hobby is rc racing and he is a member of several rc discussion boards. All of them have a forum for trading and selling rc related items. I think it would be great if we had a similiar forum on these boards. Just a thought.

Great thread, I love reading everyone's goals....

I secretly dream of a size 8, but with my frame and build I do not think that is realistic.

I am currently shooting for a 12.

I am in an 18 regular jeans now at 264 lbs.

Started this at 329lbs and size 26W jeans!

The smallest size I ever remember being in was a 14/16 in 5th grade. I am currently a 22/24 (this is the most I have ever weighed) So honestly I have no idea what I will look like in any thing under a 14th. I'll be happy just to wear regular sizes in regular stores. If I had to say, I would love to be a perfect size 6, but I know that's not realistic, so I'll say a 10/12.

I was a size 2X in women's

Now I am a size 14

I am not sure about my goal size? Maybe a 10ish.

Although, do you folks feel that the sizes are different since you've lost weight? I don't remember being a size 14 at 189 pounds...

I started out wearing an 18/20. Now I can wear a 4/6. I'm still about 15 pounds away from a "normal" BMI, so I guess size 2/4 is where I'm hoping to end up.

I agree that sizes aren't what they used to be. I wore 4/6 years ago, at less than 100 pounds.

PS...I'm a shortie....not quite 5 feet tall.

I'm with Carlene.

I'm a size 8 now. I can't wait to get into a size 6. But, my goal is a size 4.

That seems a long way away.

I am a size 20 or 22 (5' 11") I wore a 20 in Old Navy Jeans today. I want to be in a size 8 or 10. We have this thing every year. It is called the River Festival, it is the last week end of April. Well I have not went for 2 years cause I am so fat and I live in a small town so you see everybody in the world, people you have not seen in years!!! SO my goal is to be a size 8 or 10 by next years River Festival so I can go and feel normal again. I live in South Alabama so it is real hot, everyone is wearing shorts and tanktops and some bathing suits. So I would just look stupid if I was wearing jeans or something. I am scheduled for Lap Band on April 17th!!!! Be Honest, for those of you who have done this, is this a realistic goal? I promise I will exercise and eat right and really do everything that I am suppose to do. This is a real question so please answer it. I want to set realistic goals for myself but I can't without having input from others.

Thanks Yall

I'm 5'9" and am wearing a size 24 jean today and they're fitting pretty loose. I have another pair of jeans, same manufacturer but a different style, in the same size, that I can't zip. What's up with that? This kind of thing makes me absolutely crazy. I would like to get down to a size 12 but realistically I'll probably settle for a size 16. Maybe. Maybe I'll change my mind when I begin to have a new body image.

OK, this is kind of a highjack, and I apologize, but this seems like the right place to post it:

I went into a 'Chico's' clothing store for the first time about a week ago. I see the commercial's for Chico's on TV and I really don't think that much about the clothes in the ads but I've got some time to kill, waiting on an appointment, with nothing to do. I've just been banded so I'm not going to buy clothes right now but I thought it would be as good a way to waste 20 minutes as any.

So, even knowing I'm not planning to buy anything, I stroll into the store. The clerks look up from their (I'm sure) VERY important jobs, half smile, mumble hello and go back to what they're doing. No biggy. Another lady comes in after me and you'd have thought Laura Bush or Princess-Di-back-from-the-dead had just entered the store! They both stopped what they were doing, greeted her, told her about the new arrivals, offered her a beverage (!) and pretty much fell all over themselves to help her. I thought, well, maybe they know her and know she spends a lot of money in the store. OK. Another person walked into the store and the same thing happened! Meanwhile, I'm looking at a rack of tops and I start looking at sizes, I mean, I'm in the store, I might as well check out the prices, right?

After looking around I concluded that in addition to being more than a little pricey for some pretty average clothing, the largest size in the store is a 3. I swear. Even better (or worse) the smallest size they carried was a .5 ! I swear to God, they carried point five as a size. What the F? What's next? Point two five? Give me a break, please!

No wonder they didn't give me the time of day - they KNEW I wasn't buying anything - and NOT because I chose not to. Point five my hind end!

Now when I see those Chico's commercials I just get steamed.

Sorry about the highjack - carry on! :-)

Why is everyone here shooting for 10-12'ish? Why not single digits? We have the ability to be as skinny as we want. Why not shoot for a size similar to the people you see laying out in the sun in Miami or Malibu. Come on people, imagine being a size where you fit in with the people getting a sun tan on the beach. That's my goal, I want to be a size where I can run around the beach in a pair of shorts and not be embarrassed.

well for me a size 10 would be heaven. I haven't been in a size 14 or less in 15 years or more.

I was anorexic when I was 17 and lost down to 117lbs and even then at 5'7 I was size 6!!!

large boned and size 10 shoe - don't think I will ever be thinner than I was at that time.

My goal weight is a "healthy" weight of 150 lbs and then when I am there I will see how I am doing and re-evaluate where I need to be.

*Sarah* - I'm thinking it's about 155 for a size 10.... not a perfect science because everyone's body is different.... So, that's about what? close to 65 lbs. I would say that this is entirely possible in a year! Good luck on your surgery!

DonnaB - just saw your post about Chicos - I know that sucks when they do that to you! I had the same experience in Saks 5th avenue. NOONE would help me and they were falling over themselves to help other people. Sucks big time. I'll be like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman ---- one of these days I'll go back and give them the you work on commission line - big mistake ---- huge. Hey - just so you know - Chico's sizes are different than other peoples sizes - a Chico's size 3 is equivalent to around a 14-16 I think. I thought the same thing when I went in there the first time!

I am in Aussie so I think the sizes are different but I started in a 24/26 now I am in a 16...18 with the swelling I have at the moment. I would be happy with 12/14. It is a realistic size that I know I can maintain.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
