My first full is 11/28, and I'm scared and nervous. What can I expect? Will it hurt, how much pain will I be in? How many cc's will I get??? I'm so nervous right now, will I be able to eat what I'm eating now???

Girl.. My 1st fill is the same day as yours.. so I too would like to know what to expect. I have no fill in my band at the moment.. so I have been able to eat anything with no problems, ( although I stick to the healthy stuff of course!! ) :)

Calm down. First you really should not feel a thing. I got a bit of freezing and as it was the first fill she had to feel around to find my port - with her fingers - I think she did a few pokes before she found it, but it didn't hurt. She also noted the spot on my chart and for my second fill she got it with the first poke.

I am not sure about your office, but mine only puts 1cc in at a time, she puts it in, leaves the syringe in and makes me sit up and gulp a little cup of Water, if it goes down okay, she takes the needle out. I guess she keeps it in in case the band is too tight and she needs to take some out so she doesn't have to poke again.

i have had 2 fills and can eat everything I was eating before. I am not at restriction so have to eat smart like the banded person I am.

Honest, no pain, don't worry about it, you will be fine.

Thank you!!!! I'm still a little nervous. I have a job fair scheduled to go attend later in the afternoon. Will I be ok to walk around for maybe 30-45 minutes? Or will I be uncomfortable, or just go home and relax for awhile. Does the band size determine how much your full will be??? I love this site, it feels like no matter the question someone is always there and I love and appreciate that!!!!

I had my first fill 11/5. It was as un eventful as getting your blood drawn. Really! I went in, they filled, and i left!

Does your dr numb the area first? You should ask before you go. Either way you will be surprised at how smooth it goes!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
