Fell Off The Bandwagon :(

Recommended Posts

So I was banded back in August and lost 25 lbs. pretty quickly...then after my first fill I seemed to feel less restriction then before the fill. Now it's mid November and I'm pretty sure I've gained most of the weight back and have completely fallen off track. Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice for getting back on track? I am really disappointed in my self and would love to start losing weight again to 'wow' my family by the time Christmas roles around...thanks :)

Try going back to your pre-op diet for two weeks then move to the post op diet. This is what I do when I hit a bump in the road! It seems to help!

Just do it. Set yourself a goal and work towards it. Make sure it is realistic and achievable and plan to give yourself a non-food reward when you get there.

Start over- do a week or at the least a few days of liquids, then mushy, then solid. Always keep portions to one cup, eat high Protein, and keep calories around 1000 (some go for 800, I can't handle that I keep mine around 1200 and that works form me).

Good luck.

Just start. Before you eat anything today... trash all the junk food in your house. Get out your phone ap and set it up to start counting calories. Dust off the food scale and measuring cups and weigh, measure and track the calories of everything you put in your mouth. I used 1000 as my number but your Dr may suggest something different for you.

After you do that call the Dr. You may need a fill so make an appointment.

Its really that easy. But I am going to give you a little hint.... dont do this for the wow factor of others. do it for the wow factor for yourself.

Best wishes for success!

HI Erin.. I am in almost the same position as you.

I was also banded in August lost 20lbs, and i have maintained for the last 5 weeks. I have only had 1 fill since surgery and that was on Oct 29 when I had a port revision (mine flipped) 4cc in a 11cc band. I am literally stuck in the same point and its driving me crazy. I am scheduled for a fill on Monday Nov 19 I am hoping a fill when get me moving again so I can really start losing weight. I was just cleard by my doc to go back to the gym this week, so I am super excited to get back into the swing of things.

I know we can do this! Stay positive.. :)

One day at time.... most of us have had these struggles. A bad day here or there, I've had my share. I get up the next day and I start again. Don't let it get hold of you cuz it can snowball. Don't give up..... get in and see your Dr for a fill and get moving again. Follow up with the Dr. is key. They see this a lot so don't stay away cuz you're scared to go in. Get in and get going! You can do it!

Thank you so much everyone! It's exactly what I needed to hear. I agree that I need to do this for myself. I've been stressing about Thanksgiving for a while now because I'm afraid of the expectations my family has. But I can't worry about that anymore. I just gotta start. Nike says t best; Just do it.

Wait, only one fill??? Go get another. Then another, then another till you feel restriction!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
