I am also one of those people who will never divulge that I have a lapband, the only person that knows is my husband, & thats the way I will keep it for my own reasons. Anyone else like that? or did you tell everyone?

I have told only close family and friend that I know won't judge and so glad I did. I had my surgery 5 years ago and I only lost 20 lbs. I'm still over weight and it's humiliating. People are not kind and will judge you and bring you down so if I were you I would keep it a secret. When I get stuck I just tell them I have bad alcers. Good luck.

I am pretty much an open book about anything, but that is my choice. it is harder for me to keep a secret them to be open. Everyone had to do what is right for them.

Oh no I am so sorry to hear that. were u getting ur fills within those 5 years? My issue is I just dont want anyone thinking I took the easy way out. I feel like I've battled with my weight long enough & since I've lost weight multiple times, I'm guessing no one will assume I had anything done, so I'm sure I will be successful as far as keeping it to myself

Yes I'm pretty open but this particular thing is different for me. Unless something serious (medical) wise happens & I dont have to say I wont ;)

I tell a lot of people especially if they are obese a lot of them have looked in to having surgery because I have been so successful.

I am new to the forum. I am ready for my surgery but Hurricane Sandy cause my hospital to be evacuated 3 days before my surgery was due to take place and now am waiting for another hospital to give clearance to use their facilities. So I am very anxious. And nervous I may add. I'm wondering if this was a message to me...???

I have told friends and family about the surgery. I am not embarrassed by it. I have tried other ways to lose weight but it just doesn't work. So I am proud to say I am having the surgery. It isn't the "easy way out". It takes alot to stick to this plan. My family and friends support me and my decision and are cheering me on!

I started out telling my husband....and then he told a few preople and the rest of the world found out...It actually was a great source of comfort since everyone was very supportive. Only one person I spoke to about it had a negative reaction.

And sometimes if I see someone who I havnt seen in years I may or may not disclose it... it depends how much I want to get into. Most of the time when I am asked I say.. 1000 calories a day for the past 2 years. Its truthful and usually ends the discussion

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
