Trouble Sleeping?

Recommended Posts

I was banded a week ago and since that day, I've woken up at 4 a.m. every single day and haven't been able to go back to sleep. Anyone else having changes in their normal sleep patterns??

Thanks,

Oh yeah! I was banded on 09/14/12 and I didn't sleep a full night until about 6 weeks in. I think this is mostly because I am normally a stomach sleeper and it was uncomfortable to do so. Also, you're probably eating much less calories and its hard to sleep when your body is hungry. Not to worry, it will pass and you'll be sleeping like a baby in no time! Good luck!

Yes sleeping was miserable for me also in the beginning, but once you lose all the weight your body will crave it.

I'm six days post off. I wake up early...and get up about 5x a night....its terrible. I wake up with back aches because of the position I have to sleep in. I wake up and get ice packs for my back which helps to put me back to sleep. I'm a stomache sleeper. Anybody know howl long it takes to start sleeping on my back again ?

I had exactly the same problem and it was miserable. After about 3 weeks I could sleep a few hours on my stomach and every night a little more. At about 4-5 weeks post op I was able to sleep for a full 8 hours and felt so much better. You're going to be OK! Good luck!

I was the same way I'm month out now and it seems like I need more sleep maybe because of the sleep I lost I would sleep. Few hours in bed wake up for a little bit then go to the couch or the recliner and be awake for a little bit :(

I'm 10 days Post Op and now can get comfortable with a pillow under my port and find myself on my stomach at night... I'm not there long I suppose since it wakes me up! I was in recliner for the 1st 6 days or so but once I got back to my bed... it felt good and I could sleep. I do wake up more now with heartburn... and I take Zantac and Reglan everyday!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
