Back To Calorie Counting...

Recommended Posts

So I hate doing it but it really helps me to have specific goals to stick to, and I like the challenge, so I'm going to be positive and not beat myself up too much!

Anyone else find it easy to count, and how many calories are you doing?

It's not hard if you use an phone or computer application- it makes it easy. Like Missy I stick to 1200. I hate to admit it, but with a death in the family, me getting sick, and the craziness of this time of year I haven't counted in 2 weeks. I gotta get back to it, thankfully my weight has not gone up.

when i was activly losing I ate 1000 calories and tracked and counted everything that went into my mouth. Now being close to goal I pretty much eyeball it but if I need to I use it to look up the calorie content of something I am unsure of.

Now I'm about 60 lbs away from goal. My fitness pal.com says I should shoot for 1520, that seems high

What you should take in from surgery is very different from myfitnesspal.com. They don't take into account your surgery. You should consume 1000-1200 a day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
