What If I Get Denied?

Recommended Posts

I am anxiously waiting to hear back to see if I got approved for the band. I was wondering, if I don't get approved through my surgeon/office of choice does that mean I will not get approved somewhere else? Has anyone out there experienced this and can relate? I don't know how I will feel if I get denied for this bc I want it so bad! How long did it take some of you to get approved? Appreciate any thought you guys may have!

Much love-Rebecca

You should be able to cssll your insurance and see if it is a covered service and if the doctor you are seeing is also an approved provider and if not who is. i had to do some homework just so i knew. your doctor should have been able to also tell you if he is covered under your insurance then u just need to jump thrught the hoops your insurance needs.

The firstthing you should have asked the Dr is they are on your insurance...If he/she is not you will not get approved for sure.

If he/she is on your insurance and you get turned down they will tell you why and what you can do to reaply for the surgery.

As for how long it takes to hear back from them it depends on your insurance. I have heard any where from 48hrs to two weeks...

the first thing i thought when i saw your post was

((what if you do))

if you do get approved, you fretted for nothing....and if they do deny you, can you always appeal.

please think positive. i will keep my fingers crossed for you....all the BEST always.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
