Should I Do Plication With My Lapband.

Recommended Posts

that seems very interesting.. that link says that insurance doesn't cover? did you all have to pay extra for the plication? I am a bit fascinated!

I was self-pay and plication was a little bit more.

I am also considering the band with plication. Can anyone please tell me how the recovery was with plication? I am set for banding on 10/31/12

recovery as kah says was (ok). for me i took 8 days off total and was glad to do it....i also had a hernia repaired that i did not know i had. i def recommend this plication to anyone. but keep in mind, its a tool unless you help it, it wont help you. my dr stressed this to me and i am/was def listening.

I'm having the lapband with plication on Nov 1, 2012. My doctor calls it the I-Band. Not sure what the I stands for but that is what he calls it. Insurance is still paying for it, not sure if it cost more or not, but when he put in the insurance pre-approval it was listed on it.

I also know if he goes in on any of his band patients for any reason that got the band before he started the I-Band he does the plication on them while they are under. With their permission of course.

I don't think he does the band with out it now.

Susan

Can I ask a scary question? I was considering the plication as well. I understand its a fairly new procedure and so there are not many long term studies done. Have you heard of the unused portion of the stomach rotting over the years? What do the drs say about long term?

My doctor said there would only be a problem if the stitches are to tight cutting off blood supply this is much safer than the sleeve with basically the same results also my doctor has been doing this procedure for almost 2 years the way I looked at it if there was a problem and some of my stomach had to be removed LOL it was to big anyway. I am completely happy with my decision and the results so far but I think it would depend on your weight if you have a lot to lose I think it's the best way good luck

Thank you all so much! I think after all my research I'm gonna go ahead with the plication. It seems like the best option for avoiding future problems. :) starting to count down the days! 20 & counting!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
