And I'm in pain! Back pain has become bearable but the pain at the port site is unbearable. Feels like I'm being stabbed in the chest when I breathe in. Pain meds are not working that well. Any suggestions?

Hi Chelsey,

Please keep in mind this is temporary what you are going through. If you can take small walks around your home during the day, walking eliviates not only gas but pain. Keep up with your pain meds if its 'unbareable'. Using a heating pad can help (do NOT put the heating pad on your belly). If you have someone who can rub your back would help so much as well. Do breathing exercises as well!!!

Hang in there hon!

Ugh...hearing pad over port site is the only relief im getting. Walking all night and it really did nothing for the pain. I had a c section a couple years ago and I was far more comfortable then than I am now. Thanks for the encouragement! I'm hanging in there!

Not sure what pain meds you are on but maybe you can get something stronger from the Dr? This too shall pass... it will take a few days but just try to rest and walk around and drink Water to keep yourself hydrated. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. By next week this will hopefully be a distant memory!

Thanks guys....I've added Motrin for pain which is helping. Alternating hot and cold packs and was able to get two tablespoons of Jello down. Hopefully tomorrow will be easier.

Hi Chelsey, I'm 3 days out and it will get better. Dr told me first 48hrs would be the worst as far as swelling goes and he was right.

Keep sipping & walking.

Not sure if you should put heat on incisions.

Best wishes!

Thanks Maddy! The PA told me its ok to alternate hot and cold on the incision. Just try to keep it dry...

That just goes to show how different Drs are. My Dr said heating pad ok on shoulder & back, but possible nerve damage near incision could lead to burning without you knowing it.

Glad I'm not having trouble with incisions.

Hope yours feel better soon!

Ok three days out and I'm feeling MUCH better. Cutting down on the pain meds and actually drank a half cup of broth and two tbsp of Jello. Hoping to feel good enough for the last farmers market of the year on Sunday

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
