I was banded last november and have gained weight since the band! I have been back and for fills and unfills because I go through these mucous plugs with vomiting. I have yet to get to the green zone! My frustration is overboard and the True Results clinic I go to seemo to not have any answers for me. I have met with my surgeon and just recommends that I keep it in and keep working on my diet and excersise!!

Is there anyone else outhere that has had the same lack of weightloss....is it just me? I feel like a complete failure and that there is no one who can help me. I have tried to change clinics, but most surgeons will now take on banded patients. Is there someone with some help??

Just my opinion, but if I were you I'd be searching out a good nutritionist not another clinic. The band won't make good food choices for you or limit your portion sizes. A nutritionist can help you figure out where you need to make changes to lose weight, as well as help you establish good food guidelines to live by that fit your lifestyle and needs.

And the surgeon is right about one thing- you won't lose without a healthy diet and exercise. I'm just sorry he's not giving you much more guidance to point you in that direction.

Best wishes to you.

Do you follow an eating plan? do you feel like you have any restriction?

I'm sorry you're going through this.

It's hard to make suggestions without knowing more about your eating & exercise habits, food choices, medications & medical conditions that could affect your weight.

I've encountered some bandsters whose weight loss was disappointing for a wide variety of reasons, and also quite a few who have struggled to find a good fill level because they're very sensitive to fills.

Does True Results not have a dietitian on staff who can work with you on an eating plan and on strategies for avoiding eating problems? If they've told you (basically) that there's nothing more they can do to help you, I'd be looking for 2nd opinion from a more supportive clinic.

It is very easy to trick your band! I know that I could eat anything and everything if I washed down the food with drinks! You have to be honest with yourself and ask.......what am I doing that is not allowing the band to work at it's fullest potential?

Hi there, sorry to hear things are not going too well for you.

Firstly if you are gaining weight you are consuming more calories than your body needs, with a band fitted I'd suspect your food choices may be in need of scrutiny. Have you kept a log of what you ? Try this as a way of showing you where you can trim calories in your diet. See if you can trim 500 calories of your usual diet and see where your weight goes after a mMonth. As a slow loser myself, I've had to accept that my attachment to food is tough to break but a slow and gradual change of mindset has put me in the right direction.

Thanks everyone for all this great information. I work out about 1hr at the gym with weights and cardiovascular. I used to only do spin classes 3x a week, but I think I am seeing more body changes since adding weights. Sadly, the clinic is very busy and I have only met the nutritionist twice once before banded and once after.

So from what I read from my post, no one so far is having problems with allergies or mucous plugs. Wh

It seems that once I start to feel restriction and there is a lb or 2 loss, and I start to get to the zone, I suffer from liquids clogging and we throwing up meds with fluids, or ant fluids. This is usually a morning routine when I get to about 5.5cc. I flush with saline, use mucinex, claritin, benadryl, I drink hot green tea, its just a continuous cycle. Everytime I vomit I call the clinic then they remove the Fluid.

I am meeting again with the nutritionist to do a body composition in two weeks. Maybe that will help in seeing some progress. Thank you all for this feed back, I should of joined this forum from the beginning. This group is quite informative and encouraging.

I would think a good nutritionist would advise you to count calories and track your food. Because with all that exercise I am really surprised you aren't losing at a rapid pace. If your NUT or dr isn't being helpful see if you can find someone who is. If that isnt an option try to only eat 1200 calories in a day, stay away from fried foods and junk food and eat no more that 3/4 oz of Protein, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c startch at each meal. I bet the weight will come off.

Good luck

I guess I missed the part about allergies and mucus plugs in your original post. I have seasonal allergies and they often did a number on my restriction. My surgeon said (not in these exact words)that the sticky mucus drains into the esophagus and gunks everything up. For me, taking allergy meds was crucial.

Depending on how badly clogged you are, you might want to wait for 24 hours before calling the clinic for an unfill. During that 24 hours, don't try to eat solid food and get in as much liquid as you can. That should let everything calm down a bit. But if you're so clogged up that you can't drink Clear Liquids, do call the clinic.

Could the allergies, mucous plugs be related to some foods you're eating. I know if I have milk products they cause my body to produce a lot of mucous. Maybe meeting with a dietician can help you identify trigger foods if that us the problem.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
