Today I am 3 weeks post op I haven't lost any weight in the last 9 days is this normal...I feel like a loser because I lost 14 pounds in the first 11days and now nothing!! I'm lucky if I eat 700 calories a day u think the weight would be falling off!!! I'm know I'm still in the healing past and I do still have quite a bit of tenderness in my port area...I guess I'm just wondering how everyone else is doing/feeling at this stage...want to see if I'm normal lol

That is normal to have slow weight loss, but the weight loss will start again. I have my band put in back in 2007 and I lost over 100 lbs the first year and I have been able to keep it off even after given birth 2yrs ago. I started @ 309 and I'm currently 188. Have you been released to start going to the gym and work out. I noticed that I lost it quickly once I started going to the gym and working with a trainer or just by myself. Just dont give up and hang in there for the long haul :-)

At three weeks post-op you are still healing, my surgery was four months ago and I still have quite a bit of tenderness around the port area, it varies in intensity depending on how much I do physically.

Give yourself time to heal, don't worry about the scale as much (I know, I know...).

I am 12 days post op. I lost every day until two days ago. I am also tired. I am like you, how is it possible to eat NOTHING barely and not just melt away. I think I'm getting ready to start my period and I can feel a little Water retention that I didn't feel before. When I walk even 1 mile a day it comes off more. I'm going to try not to obsess if you promise to do the same.

Are you on my fitness pal? If you are add me micheleost.

Ditto on the above post.

My body hangs on to Water, any bit of salt I consume can stall the scale. That has always been the case for me, and even now four moths post-op, if I indulge in just a few crackers I will not be happy with the scale, this is no fun for a crunchy-chipaholic.

Congrats on 100+ pounds in a year that is my goal as well!! I haven't started working out much other then walking as much as I can I was told to give it 4 to 6 weeks. I am on My Fitness Pal my user name is lanalynnmatter I use it daily but right now it's really not liking me having less then the suggested min of 1200 calories lol it is a great app though!! I retain Water badly from salt as well but I also feel like I'm struggling to get my water in as well before the surgery I drank a lot of water now I find I will sometimes go the whole day with maybe one or two glasses which I know is not good!! I'm consciously trying to increase my intake!! I will not give up or let this healing time get the best of me!! I can't wait to see my goal weight as it gets closer and closer!!

I too am 3wks post op and I have stopped losing since last wk.. Today I went to the gym. Biked 5 miles and 3 on the treadmill i had a burst of energy and the gym was what I needed!! I also am not a Water drinker.. But I purchased a very nice looking water bottle and it holds 23.7 oz. my daily goal is 3 of those a day, and lately I am hitting that goal just fine ... I give all the credit to the water bottle :) I'm hoping with these changes something's gotta give .... Lets see

Don't worry, I'm in the SAME boat. Just keep it up and know that it'll pick back up again.

What really sucks is that I know part of the reason the weight loss isn't happening is because my body is in starvation mode but how do I get it out of there?? I have a hard time eating more then 600-700 calories...any suggestions on increasing my calories??

I feel the same as you! I was banded 9/24 and lost 16 pounds in a little less than 2 weeks. Once I got to mushies I actually gained a few pounds. I'm walking and still eating between 500-700 calories as recommended by my surgeon. I am very discouraged. I have even begun jogging and walking more but still no weightless.

Have you had any fills yet? I am stalled right now banded 10/5 and have lost 21.6 lbs since preop. But I also know I am getting ready to start my cycle. So stay the course, watch you sodium intake. It is humanly impossible for you to stay at your weight eating only 500-600 cal a day. If that was the case people in Africa would all be obese! It will happen. Your body can only hold out for so long.

I go for follow up on 11/09. I'm hoping I get a fill. I left the OR with 2cc in my 10 cc band exhaust it was loose? I am getting my cycle next week so I am hoping that is what the problem is. I'm going to start the Protein shakes again. Just have to wait until payday tomorrow! Those pre packaged drinks can be pricey

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
