Going For My Consultation On The 24Th- Tri Care

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am Jenna from south Carolina. I have my consultation on the 24th. I have heard that Tri Care is pretty quick about approving- Anyone have any experience with Tri care? Also looking for advice as to what to expect in the next couple months.

How long after approval did you do the surgery? How much do they cover?

i did all my pre ops and they submitted to tricare and had surgery 2 weeks later.

it went smoothly. just alot of appts and meeting with dr's for various things

day of surgery, i paid 183.45 for my surgery. tricare paid everything else.

Hard to say what all you might have to do prior to surgery.Thats up to your insurance company.you have to qualify first.Good luck in your endeavors

Thanks- I'm not worried about the approval- I have 2 comorbidities and have been told that with that you only have to be 30 BMI in order to be approved by Tri Care, and have been told as soon as the approval comes in things move pretty quickly. Little nervous- but excited- nothing else has worked for me- O'm really hoping this does!!

I'm going for my consult on the 17th and I have tricare west. I hear the different areas are different but I'm nervous about needing 6 months of dieting with a weigh in with primary physician once a month. I have proof of over six months of weight watchers but not sure if they'll acept it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If I have to wait 6 months I will but I'm hoping not to. As far as I know this is only a Triwest requirement but I'll let you know if I get approved. Good luck!!!

i have tricare prime north, and there was not a 6 month wait

as long as you had past paperwork of documentation of past weight loss and all your pre ops complicated, and a nice dr's recommendation letter, i dont

think you have to wait 6 months...i will keep my fingers crossed :)

I have Tri Care Prime South and i understand there is no 6 month requirement- just a letter from your doctor you have been trying for over 6 months.

Why? What's going on? I go for my endoscopic on Monday and hopefully my psych eval next week too-just got the referral for that yesterday but that was my pcps problem not tri care. What region are you in?

I'm starting to go through my pre-op stuff and so far the only thing that i'm dissapointed in Tricare is that I have to see my PCP for six months and other regions do not. Just a little set back and I'll stick with it. Tricare had been good about aproving pre-op stuff so far.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
