Hello everyone,

I had my Lap Band done on September 27, 2012 and I have already lost 17lbs! I think this app is awesome and look forward to hearing people's stories and giving anybody hints and getting tips from other Banders to help us all along the way!

Ditto!! :)

I am feeling ok... Walked more today and drove for the 1st time... But the one incision that is killing me is the one were the port is in :( I sneezed (for lack of better word) lol, and my 17month old daughter thought I just wanted to YELP as loud as I can, so now she is achoooing as if to mimic me :) that sneeze was painful :(

Still a bit out of breath, but overall I am at 45%

How are you doing? Feeling hungry? I was :)

We are really twins because I drove for the first time today too and I was a little uncomfortable but I made it. Also the incision on the left also hurts me and I had a lot of dry heveas so I think I aggravated it. The doctors removed my little bandages today so I'm very itchy which I know means that they are healing but its driving me nuts. Yes I am also very hungry and my doctor sad that will stop after my first tightening. I have also started eating reg food but mostly soap.

I had terrible dry heaves due to the morphine while at the hospital ... I thought I felt stitches burst... Interesting that u saw ur doc today.. I spoke to the surgeons office today and they will not see me until 6 was post up, but mainly for my 1st fill...

They must be supper confident that all will go well.... Or less empathetic than ur docs!!! :)

I am only to visit if there are complications :(

Def keep in touch!

Do you have myfitnesspal?

Yeah! We are triplets!! Oh no, I am out of work until the 17th.. Used some vaca time and also fmla... I never thought about icing it...

Interesting... My port seems to be in my right side...

If u both are on ur left side for port... I am really gonna think that my surgeon is just defiant with protocol or just plain backwards!! Lol/jk

Keep in touch!!!

I lasted a whole 3.5 hours at the office today, wow did that wipe me out! I guess I have to remember I am not all healed like I think I am! Wow, your port is on the right side, I haven't heard of that before, but I am sure it's each surgeons choice as to the best spot to put it. I have no idea why I didn't think of ice until yesterday, but it makes a huge difference! How are you guys doing today?

Sorry to hear that the important thing is that you tried. I'm starting to go stir crazy so I swept my house a little today and I'm trying to do lots of Protein because I know that the protein will make me heel faster. My boss called me today and I told her I will be back on Monday to work which is great because I will only have a half a day on Monday. I hope you feel better soon!

MY surgery was Sept. 19. I have lost 22lbs. My band doesnt get filled until Oct. 18th. I am a little worried about after that. I am sticking to foods like cottage cheese or smoother but I worry that I will have to learn by trial and error how much I can eat versus now without the fill. What is usually the 1st fill amount?

Congratulations on your 22lbs that's awesome!! I know what you mean from what I have read on here it looks like everybody goes back to liquids for a day or two after a fill. BTW my name is Laura.

I feel like my surgeon put my port too close to my ribs. Every time I bend over I feel like I am pushing on a bruise. I hope as I loose weight it will go lower

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
