Birthday Tomorrow, And I Want Cake, Any Suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Just one piece :) I checked out sugar free options at the grocery store and the carbs are quite a bit. Any suggestions?

Select a healthy way to Celebrate without cake. "Fake" cake or ice cream etc... For Me always leads back to the real thing.

Good luck and happy bday!

if you like chocolate cake you can mix 1 box chocolate cake mix with 1 can diet coke and bake as directed on the box. I think 1/12 of the cake is like 120 calories. Been a while since I have made it. Dollop with some cool whip! Or just have one piece from somewhere! It's your birthday girl!!

Yes! The ever popular "Pop Cake"....There are so many combos...white cake is good with diet 7up, diet Cherry 7up, diet Mountain Dew..etc. Chocolate Cake is good with diet Pepsi/Coke, diet Dr.Pepper, and diet Root Beer. You can also do cupcakes for better Portion Control.< /p>

Good luck and ENJOY your B-Day =)

There are two ways to look at this. Can you just have one bite? If so by all means have it.

If not... Then don't have a bite. You have enjoyed cake for 34 or so birthdays. Missing one or 2 in order to get control of your eating and let the band work for you is certainly worth it.

Once you hit goal you can enjoy it again in moderation. I chose option number 2 for 22 months and it paid off in spades. Now I can have a bite or 2 and be satisfied and know it won't do any damage.

Though I skipped cake on my last birthday (it was just after my surgery), I fully intend to have a bite or 2 next year...

We can't be compliant 100% of the time...so enjoy your day and your cake within reason.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes and suggestions :) Jungle Jim's (awesome place if you ever get the chance to visit, it's in Ohio) just opened up not too far from me, so I think I'm going to hit the bakery and get something small, so in essence it will be bites.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
