How Much Weight Should You Lose A Week?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 8/7/12. I saw my nutritionist on 9/10. I saw her again last night and lost 4.5 pounds in that time. She made a statement like that wasn't enough weight loss. I thought that 1-2 pounds per week was healthy?

My surgeon is happy with 1 lb every 7-10 days in the first post-op period. I saw him yesterday at 4 1/2 months out, he said that 3 lbs a month is considered "staying on track" to him now that my body is adjusting to my new lifestyle.

i think each person is different

some are bigger and some smaller

some are able to exercise more than someone like me who cant

dr's have numbers per week and per month

i say as long as you are losing, that is what matters

your doing great :)

Some people expect to much. I feel like as long as you are headed in the right direction you are doing well. My doctor told me that 4-6 lbs a month is great. Just be proud that it is going down !!!

I agree with the others... A loss is a loss.

Just thinking aloud ...Maybe she just wanted you to pay attention to your calorie count to make sure you are maximizing your efforts.

My dr told me for my size at the time 2 lbs each week was a good number to shoot for. Looking back I averaged 10 lbs a month for the first 200 lbs loss. Obviously noe the last 20 are going way more slowly.

I think you are doing fine. Good luck for continued success.

rita some lap band patients within the first month seriously dropp the weight, are you able to get up and casually walk? are you getting in enough protien shake? are you drinking enough Water?

Maybe after your staples or whatever they closed your stitches with heal you can start some light cardio like walking for 30-45min. daily to help build cardio strength and help pull larger numbers from the scale?

I've been losing 5lbs a week I work out everyday 2 hours a day and have a 1000 calorie intake which is hard to even I'm lucky to get 800 a day but I make sure I get 70 grams if Protein a day which comes from my shakes.. Like everyone said each person is different and a loss is a loss.. I'd be happy losing 2lbs a week..

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
