Is This What Feeling Tight In The Morning Feels Like?

Recommended Posts

So, I just had the procedure Friday, this is Sunday. This morning I woke up feeling like I have heartburn, only without the burn. There is pressure. I realize the area of the band is swollen and healing, but I am wondering if this is what feeling tight feels like?

I was banded on Thursday and also have this feeling, I was able to drink some hot tea and keep it down and don't feel to bad now so hoping that is what I was feeling.

like the other poster, could be but i am not sure

when i am the most (tight in the mornings) i am not hungry and (feel like i am full)

this is just my opinion and i hope it helps you. you are very swollen and need to heal.

(i had hernia repair and was very swollen but did not feel (pressure)

take care

You are still very swollen from surgery. Take care, don't over drink or try to eat. You will experience many great and not so great things for awhile. Just be good to your band and yourself. Don't try to overdo anything, right now! You just had major surgery 2 days ago! Best wishes, Karen

I was able to get some coffee down, but definitely feel more swollen than yesterday morning. I will take it easy for a while before I try anything else to drink. If this is what restriction is going to feel like, I can see why the band helps you lose! Gah!

I got banded in Dec. 2010 and still find that mornings are much tighter than later in the day. I just sip on a cup of tea and find that after a couple of hours and I'm fine to eat. I'm OK with this, as I was never a morning eater.

After surgery I could really eat anything at all until day 4-5. So, hang in there and let your body heal.

I'm not so worried about eating, just trying to learn what 'restriction' may feel like so I know what to expect moving forward. I think I did probably drink too much yesterday, but today feels much different than yesterday did. Thanks for all the responses, this is a definite learning curve!

I dont know if im getting enough Protein in, and fluids. I had surgery last wed. I feel full after a 4 oz Protein shake. Just full all the time.

My doctor recommends 3-4 oz per hour of fluids with at least 30 grams of Protein per day for the first week. costco sells a premade Protein Drink that is 30 or 32 grams of protein, so I drink one of those over about an hour. Yesterday I did not drink enough during the afternoon and could definitely feel a difference when I started taking in enough fluids again. I am learning what true discomfort is, hopefully learning how to avoid it as I move forward down this path!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
