Length Of Hospital Stay?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering...how long did you stay in the hospital after being banded? If it was less than a day; do you felt you should have stayed longer?

I was on the operating table at 8am and home by noon. I know some stay overnight. I was good with being home as I did not have pain or huge discomfort.

Same day and no need to stay for me.

I was told originally it would be an overnight stay for WLS because they want to check for leaks the next morning, but I'm not sure if that really applies to Lap-Band or not, since it's just a few sutures they put in.

My surgery was at 1230 p. I was home in my own bed by 730pm the same day. I didn't feel the need or have any medical reason to stay in the hospital

I stayed overnight. Surgery was don't by 3:30 pm and left hospital at 2:00pm next day. No I didn't feel I needed to stay more. I actually kept stalking my nurse to hurry along the paperwork to get me out of there. Us nurses make the worst patients ya kno lol

My surgery was afternoon and I stayed overnight. Went home the next day afternoon.

It was ok in the hospital, but I was bugging the staff to discharge me quick as I really wanted to be in my own bed. They woke you every 2 hours to walk for 10-15 minutes.... necessary, I know, but a real pain.

I had checked in at 8.30am, operated on around noon, stayed overnight and left around 8am the next day. I always feel terrible from Anesthesia, and was quite uncomfortable and in pain which I appreciated the nurses help.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
